For those curious, start by watching the 8 minute short which originated it all. If it hooks you, you’ll love the show.

https://vimeo.com/179779722

But be aware the show wasn’t renewed for a second season. Not enough people knew about it.

I've heard about the show on an episode of the podcast "Endless Thread", where the creator Joseph Bennett talked about how the show came to be and how his creative process worked.

It was very intriguing and I started watching it on the same day. This would have really deserved a renewal for another season, but sadly it got cancelled.

Can you elaborate on what was wrong with your cellular connection?
m_gloeckl · 4 months ago
My plan advertises "up to 50 Mbit/s" on a 4G connection. I was getting less than 1 Mbit/s a lot of the time. Websites and videos would not load properly.

I downloaded the app of the german ministry that allows you to take speed tests and file a complaint. After multiple weeks of measuring connection speeds on the cellular network, I was able to file a complaint.

Is there anything that Vodafone customers can do legally to punish Vodafone or not delivering on their broadband contracts?

If you're paying for a 1Gbps connection and Netflix is only able to stream to you at 0.93 Mbps because Vodafone or Inter.link are choking off the supply, surely that's breach of contract on Vodafone's part?

I'm sure Cory Doctorow has a word for what's happening here.

You can file a complaint with the "Federal ministry for digital transformation" (formed this year). It does actually work, but it's a lengthy process.

I did force my cell phone carrier to grant me proper 4G speeds last year, after spending many hours with their help line and ultimately complaining to the (then) ministry of transportation and digital infrastructure.

I really like the subtle animation on all updated cells as he types in a value. By default excel just updates it instantly but that makes it hard to see the scope of your change by eye.

A quick scope through the options doesn't show what makes it do that. Anyone know?

m_gloeckl · 10 years ago
IIRC those animations have been introduced with the current version, Office 2016.

I think they make it really easy to follow, especially when someone else is editing and sharing their screen.

Populate a http://developer.echonest.com/docs/v4/tasteprofile.html with the listening history and you can use it for dynamic playlisting using the spotify catalog. That is as long as echonest matches the song metadata to an id.

http://static.echonest.com/enspex/web/ChillRadio/ linked from the demos shows this for artists as a seed, but tasteprofiles as the station seed works nicely as well :-)

Wow, that looks great. Thanks for the link!

This sounds great, indeed. With a listening history on last.fm that reaches back to early 2009, I always thought it would be great to have a service to use the last.fm data to build dynamic playlists for spotify.

Most managers would not accept this. Since most developers are paid salary (as opposed to hourly), many feel like if you were leaving early, you aren't working hard enough.

I've seen it at every place I've ever worked. At one place, my manager directly told me I needed to stay until 6 or 7 every night or the boss will think that I'm slacking.

m_gloeckl · 12 years ago
I'm in the same boat. Some weeks I simply do not have enough work to fill the 40 hours I should work according to my contract. I'm just sitting around, looking busy, and billing those hours to the project I'm assigned to. If I report fewer hours than that I'm in trouble, because my billable hours go down and that means I'm getting a smaller bonus at the end of the fiscal year..

Yeah, the system isn't really working.

I really want to like firefox, but it is just so much slower/unresponsive than chrome. Is this something specific to my setup? I tried this new version out on a clean profile and compared it to chrome: http://fixme.se/pub/chrome_vs_ff.flv

I searched a bit and found this bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=924411 Nothing seems to have happened though, and google maps is far from the only example..

m_gloeckl · 12 years ago
Vanilla Google Maps is not a lot slower on Firefox than on Chrome for me, but third party apps that build upon GMaps, like Garmin Connect (Running / Biking tracking tool for Garmin GPS watches) are definitely much slower and less responsive for me on Firefox than on Chrome.
