I run https://bonusbuddy.app.

Online casinos in the US will give you daily bonuses of $0.50-$1 just for logging in, and I built a Chrome extension that automatically collects the bonuses for users every day for a bunch of different casinos.

I charge $20/mo and users make roughly $200/mo in bonuses (trying to adhere to the software must provide 10x value philosophy).

Would this work for someone outside the US using a VPN?

Learning Ableton opened me up to a whole world of meeting new people and picking up new skills.

Getting some teenage engineering pocket operators is also something I'd strongly recommend. They're affordable and fun! Check out this 8 year old building a tune with them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhFIUdICYSA

Can you explain how picking up this hobby lead you to meet new people?

Btw thanks for the links, they look super helpful.

I think Gene Wolfe is the one of the greatest authors of all time across any genre. I highly highly recommend the Fifth Head of Cerberus which is 3 short interconnected novellas and Peace, which isn't traditional Sci-Fi but is absolutely worth a read.

He's not just writing, he's constructing beautifully crafted puzzle-boxes that take a lot of time and thought to unpack.

Fifth Head of Cerberus was a huge shock for me when I read it.

Couldn't believe I spent so much time reading SF without having heard of this.

> 1) a lot to do, 2) very safe, and 3) don't need a car

I think Bangkok matches this pretty well.

lemerou · 4 years ago
I really don't think Bangkok is very safe. It wasn't when I lived there a few years ago anyway.

I'm not saying it's super dangerous but it's definitely not 'Tokyo safe'.

I wish if Honourable school boy could be adapted for the screen, perhaps as a miniseries, it covers lot of ground, the Hong Kong chapters are a good description of the years under British rule, and the chapter on the fall of Vientiane is also very notable.
lemerou · 6 years ago
You mean of course the fall of Saigon, not Vientiane.

I visited Taiwan recently and was shocked by the weird economics there. Rent, food, clothing, and labor are extremely cheap. Foreign goods and property are insanely expensive. It's clear there's wealth, as I saw several dozen rare BMWs and Audis, and some Lambos, Ferraris, Bentleys. But then I read that the average annual salary of a new university graduate is $11,000 USD.

It's also a very friendly place to foreigners. I'm surprised there aren't any enterprising people jumping from Shenzhen to Taipei now that Shenzhen is so expensive.

lemerou · 6 years ago
Totally agree with the rest of your answer but rent is definitely not extremely cheap, at least in Taipei (wich is where most of the jobs are). It can actually be argued that the property market in Taipei is a bubble.
