When people live longer they develop more chronic conditions. And our view of health widens, so stuff that was previously just “Bob has bad knees” becomes a chronic condition.

I assure you that banning vaccines isn’t going to fix people’s back pain.

1 in 3 adolescents has pre-diabetes.

https://diabetes.org/about-diabetes/prediabetes/adolescents-...

It's mystery to me why people rush to defend such extreme levels of failure.

You’re blaming the medical establishment for Western disease? Maybe blame a car centric, carbohydrate rich ultra processed food incentivized system? Read the risk factors on the page you cited. It’s smoking, alcohol consumption, poor diet, and lack of exercise. Everyone gets cancer when we live longer and improve detection.

Prescribe and subsidize exercise and GLP-1s, ban cigarettes, and you solve a lot of this. The medical establishment did not make the system humans exist in the US in, they simply try to treat it.

Yes this would be their primary challenge at which they have comprehensively failed.

60% of the US population has at least one chronic disease. 60 PERCENT!

40% has 2 or more. In any other sector would this be an acceptable outcome?

https://www.cdc.gov/chronic-disease/about/index.html

The old establishment health bureacracy should not be taken seriously. By any measure they are corrupt and incompetent fools.

Can someone explain to me how populism is different to democracy?

I know what the mainstream answer to this is, but fundamentally, if you are pro democracy, how can you be against the choice of the majority of the people?

lazyeye · 15 hours ago
Populism is a democratic mandate you don't like.

And I guess it's also where a politicians lies are more simple, direct which apparently is MUCH WORSE than the more sophisticated, poll-driven lies of the establishment politician's PR hacks.

And at the same time populism worsens inequality and isn't punished for it (it gets away with making the elections just a little bit "unfair", it doesn't need full totalitarian control over them and can keep the opposition alive on not-too-tight a leash). Which is the most terrifying thing: it is a self-renforcing loop.
lazyeye · 15 hours ago
Seems like its been a "self-reinforcing loop" for decades...

Right now, they're apparently cleaning the parks.

https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/national...

(... ironically: to the extent those parks have a trash problem, it's because Trump's administration cut funding to the park service (https://www.americanprogress.org/article/the-trump-administr...), which maintains those parks directly since they are federally-owned).

Those damn far-right nazis, picking up litter in the park...it's the end of democracy ; ) Only MSNBC could put a negative spin on that....thanks for the link, I had a good laugh.

Huh? If there's one place (outside of China) that doesn't discriminate against the Chinese, it'd have to be New York.
lazyeye · 5 days ago
Id also argue if China was open to the world we would see the level of Chinese racism against foreigners is very high indeed. Likely higher given their closed media systems unable to tolerate foreign opinion.

Quick tip for someone if you wake in the night. A walk on tiles or cool flooring to get your feet nice and cold then a hot water bottle on said feet - if you have poor circulation, I run hot so under the blankets the temp spikes fast.

It should get you snoozy. Some nature sounds in the background etc should get you back to sleep.

If anything, modern America has more reasons to welcome immigrants, not fewer. Population growth is down, and our economy thrives on having people participating in it, and we have more tools to teach and integrate people from different backgrounds than they did. There's a lot more to be gained by solving the immigration crisis by lowering the bar to admission then trying to turn half a continent into a fortress.

Especially when the cure is worse than the disease.

Like I said "you just put words together..."

I've been wondering for a while now if you are an AI chat bot emulating a 15 yr old teenager. I think quite possibly you are.

Before we continue this chat, its very important you tell me....whats your favorite in Seattle?
