Is there any actual data on the long term use of these devices in non-diabetics?

This feels like geek bait, imo. A nice simple metric to obsess over, and to optimise. With a super simple (therefore presumably wrong) biological model to back up it's worth.

It seems to be, that nothing particularly good has come of prior trends in quantified self-health (for regular consumers, pun intended, at least); and this seems to come packaged with a very real risk of orthorexia.

It is geek bait — most people read too far into these “spikes” and cut out healthy foods in doing so. It’s taking literally one metric as gospel which is moronic to be frank.

Name calling typically results in people viewing you as immature.

If the left ever want to reclaim the respect of voters, they need to lose this bad habit.

If this was true, Trump wouldn’t be president. Either that, or America doesn’t see an issue with immaturity.

Depending on your reference point, a sigmoid and an exponential curve look the same.

Who had motive to target Russian government officials, knowledge of the attack vectors, history of doing so, and technical and logistical ability to perform it leads Kaspersky and myself to the only rational conclusion: that Apple cooperated with the NSA on this exploit. I assume they only use and potentially burn these valuable methods in rare and perhaps desperate instances. I expect the Russian and Chinese governments' ban on use of Iphones will not be lifted and expand to other governments. Similarly to how the sanctions have backfired, this tactic will also backfire by reducing trust in Apple which is the core of their value proposition.

Inflation and cost of living index. The economy is in a recession.

Under what definition is the US economy in a recession?

People can keep clamoring for it, but the only recession the US is possibly in is a “vibes based” recession.

Wrong. The top alien hunter is obviously none other than blink-182’s Tom DeLonge.

A Calendar of Wisdom by Leo Tolstoy

It’s a collection of quotes from various influential people along with Tolstoy’s own thoughts. The book is arranged in a daily reading sort of format but I found reading it normally fascinating.

I personally prefer Leo’s work “War - What Is It Good For?”

> An LED bulb provides the same amount of light as an incandescent while using 90 percent less electricity

It’s a nice idea, pretty cool to light the entire house for pennies an hour.

> and lasting 25 times longer

I refuse to believe it. It may be possible but in practice even “quality” LED bulbs have either awful QC, intentionally engineered obsolescence, or both.

About a year ago I replaced every bulb in my house with upper end Phillips LED bulbs, probably 50 or more of them.

20% of them have already failed.

lame-robot-hoax · 2 years ago
I’ve lived in an apartment with all LED lighting for just over two years, and not a single light has ever gone out in my apartment.

In the apartment I had before with non LED lighting (not sure what it was specifically, I had about 25-30% of my lights fail within 18 months.

Why would future price increases for all your goods be inspiring for young people? That's what you're going to end up with when you increase costs. People don't choose fossil fuels just because, they're chosen largely for economic reasons.
lame-robot-hoax · 2 years ago
Carbon externalities not being reflected in the price of a good is a bug, not a feature.

It’s a market failure that needs to be rectified.
