I've been using https://www.mmhmm.app for this sort of video streaming embellishment. It's pretty good though somewhat confusing, especially as they now have two products that are very similar but not identical. I believe one is replacing the other one but it's not clear. Mmhmm is simpler to use than OBS, so of course not as feature-rich. OBS allows doing things with audio and you can also run different audio to mmhmm (such as from virtual channel — I do some audio cleanup to remove fan and traffic noise) and then output a mmhmm-specic audio device so that your audio and video are synced in Zoom/Meet/whatever.
Curious what you find confusing about Mmhmm. The audio cleanup you’re doing is pretty neat. I’ve used Audio Hijack in the past for similar reasons.
Question: are you planning for this to be an opinionated product or do you see Boom offering similar flexibility as OBS but with simpler setup?
You use Boom to control what overlays you want to show. Those are sent through a virtual camera to Teams and others.
