It should just be $1 to submit PR.

If PR is good, maintainer refunds you ;)

I noticed the same thing in communication. Communication is now so frictionless, that almost all the communication I receive is low quality. If it cost more to communicate, the quality would increase.

But the value of low quality communication is not zero: it is actively harmful, because it eats your time.

What is the issue with one Wireguard port open? You vpn to home LAN and everything is there.

The issue with these VPN companies is that they log data, you have to run an agent running as root, reliance on several other companies too like IdP, etc. Very large attack surface.

First of all, if you have a mesh you don't have to connect to home server to talk to other devices in the same network. They connect to each other.

Second it's super easy to add a new device. Managing wireguard keys is annoying.

Third I don't have to open the port, worry about ddns etc.

Finally, for me it allows me to manage my DNS easily and I can leave tailscale running at all times. Also good luck implementing ACL on your own.

I don't see an issue with them logging when I connect to my stuff. The convenience for me is worth it more than the risk.

15 years in leadership worked at 3 jobs lead major transformations at retail where nearly 100B of revenue goes through what i built. Ran $55-$100M in a yearly budget… over 300 FTEs and 3x contractors under my or my budget,…largest retailer in google at that time…my work influenced GCP roadmap, Datastax roadmap, … much more all behind the scenes…. besides your capabilities and ability that had to be there to get you in those positions - but once you are in those positions - only that mattered is politics and asskissing. I know so many people smarter than me, always stayed lower b/c they didn’t know how to play politics. Only reason i never got higher was I didn’t know how to play politics and kiss ass any more or any better.

The top people are all who kissed each others ass and looked out only for their cohort (e.g. people who were in same positions as them in early 2013). So teach your kids to kiss ass and play poltiics.

Just hear me out.

What about a safer container ecosystem without Docker?

Podman solved rootless containers and everything else under the sun by now.

All docker is doing is playing catch-up.

But guess what? They are obsolete. It's just time until they go the way of HashiCorp's Vagrant.

Docker is only making money of enterprise whales by now, and eventually that profit will dry up, too.

If you are still relying on docker, it is time to migrate.

Podman has plenty of problems. Rootless for example has super slow networking. Last time I checked it was not a solved problem.

I remember the preview price for 2.5 flash was much cheaper. And then it got quite expensive when it went out of preview. I hope the same won't happen.

Wow, I hadn’t heard about this before. I like that it’s FOSS with AGPL 3. The OnlyOffice screenshots of the spreadsheet application look beautiful (compared to the ugly LibreOffice Calc ones). It says that it works with ODS files (which LibreOffice Calc uses).

Any gotchas to be aware of with OnlyOffice?

It's a bit slower performance wise
