In general though, I’m always elated to see sovereignty of native nations.
Think what they're really protecting here is that dealerships must house, maintain, and purchase a lot of very expensive merchandise (vehicles) and if a more "official" distribution channel popped up in town, that'd hose dealerships that have invested a lot in a particular brand(s).
The protocols did not contemplate an intercept. They assumed the fighter escort would be discreet, “vectored to a position five miles directly behind the hijacked aircraft,” where it could perform its mission to monitor the flight path of the aircraft.
In sum, the protocols in place on 9/11 for the FAA and NORAD to respond to a hijacking presumed that:
(1) the hijacked aircraft would be readily identifiable and would not attempt to disappear;
(2) there would be time to address the problem through the appropriate FAA and NORAD chains of command; and
(3) the hijacking would take the traditional form, not a suicide hijacking designed to convert the aircraft into a guided missile.
On the morning of 9/11, the existing protocol was unsuited in every respect for what was about to happen. What ensued was the hurried attempt to create an improvised defense by officials who had never encountered or trained against the situation they faced.
Prior to 911, hijacked planes were not an unknown thing. I don’t know numbers, but remember periodic events in the news of x plane that was hijacked landing at y airport with local officials needing to meet hijacker demands for it to return to its flight.
Was weird when it happened, but we also didn’t have the hour of processing through security we do now.
I was under the impression that Windows somehow challenges apps by performing some type of test, and resets the file associations "for the user's safety" if the apps don't respond appropriately.
I loathe MS Edge. In spite of explicitly setting my default file associations to my preferred applications, every other day Windows insists on resetting PDF, JPG etc. to Edge. Va te faire foutre.
My work computer resets my preferences after each reboot (which I only do when system updates come down). Otherwise, it sticks. Personal computer keeps my defaults.
I keep it connected to my Pixel 5 and a Pi running OSMC attached to a TV and can pretty seamlessly switch between the devices by playing media on whichever device I want to hear.
If it was free or open source you could argue you’re not profiting from it, but the way it’s presented..
You’re selling software with the likeness of a brand for the products sold by the brand.
Hope you’ve got a lawyer.
You’re probably lucky that they’re a research driven organisation given the founder donated majority shares for it to MIT with a mission lock clause which means it’s never going to be acquired by a tech giant or private equity. This is good because it means they don’t have for profit lawyers on staff to fuck over people like you. Nevertheless you’re still screwed.
So agreeing with everyone, go with a different name. Also selfishly, try and figure out a way to do this with non-Bose headphones and add it.
I guess my top candidates would be: wikipedia page about google, google stock chart, recent news about google. google.com would never be a result I want to click. The current results are not amazing, but also do we care what the results for that one are? It's like someone telling you "cow" and expecting you'll know the context of what they're thinking of at the moment. Maybe a heading like "I have no idea what you're on about, here are some clickable ideas: google news, google stock price, ..." would be the best solution?
That isn’t to say I hate what this site is doing, I think it is quite neat, but I do think we have to consider that there are more ways used to get to Google than just entering Google.com
