I think people don't understand what shareware is any more.

That's actually quite clever. I guess battery life will be the issue. But nice to see something like this as open source.

Puff piece with 1000+ words that doesn't ever assert anything in particular that the author was wrong about. But if you enjoy a babbling endorsement. However you will be left hanging about what corner of the largely inscrutable "fediverse" the author is bleating about. Make no mistake, mastodon feeds are prone to shameless promotions, scams, and attention whoring that infects all social media, but it's still marginal and so seems quaint.

To get a sense of this skim

sfba.social

which is a feed of trending posts with a U.S. west coast vibe.

jaggs commented on Yard Kitchen – 3D interactive Jamaican cookbook with AI cooking assistants   yard-kitchen.vercel.app... · Posted by u/amdr_automate

I built a 3D interactive cookbook for 14 traditional Jamaican recipes. The tech:

- Three.js renders a photorealistic 3D flipbook with page-turn physics - Anthropic Claude powers two distinct AI personas: a grandmother (Miss Vie) and a professional chef (Chef Marcus) - ElevenLabs handles voice synthesis for cooking guidance - Stripe for three pricing tiers ($14.99 / $9.99 per month / $39.99 lifetime) - Remotion generated the marketing videos programmatically from recipe data

The cultural angle: these are recipes with 300+ year histories -- from the Maroons preserving West African smoking techniques (jerk chicken) to banana-leaf-wrapped desserts that predate the Caribbean sugar trade. My grandmother never wrote them down. This preserves them digitally.

What are you even talking about? My non-technical relatives have been using Debian for many years already.

:) Regrettably, that's not the mass adoption we were all hoping for.

Thats a very binary way of looking at this.

But true.

(GNU/)Linux on mobile is the true sustanable, independent OS. It relies on the existing, strong Linux development, natively runs existing Linux apps and guarantees you lifetime updates. What else do you need?

Sent from my Librem 5.

If mobile Linux runs through the same kind of tortuous adoption and rejection cycle that desktop Linux is still doing, then it's a non starter before it begins.
