This whole BlueSky thing feels inorganic.
inpdx · 10 months ago
It's grown slowly and deliberately. It only broke out because of the election and Elon's antics. Feels about as organic as it can get.

When everything Netanyahu doesn't like is antisemitism it begins to lose meaning/legitimacy. Which does great harm to addressing actual antisemitism.

Elon just posted a Tweet that if you post pictures of food you can get banned. Food. It's run at the caprice of a thin-skinned Napoleon at this point.

I disagree. The media makes it seem like a coin flip, but the prediction markets where people are focused on making money was accurate. This is compared to the media who are more interested in pushing lies and ideology.

The most historically accurate and least able to be gamed, predictit.org, did not overwhelmingly predict Trump.

* [The Joe Rogan Experience], Trump went on these weird rants but you just got the sense of Trump figuring it out. Sure, he’s got weird views on stuff, but he didn’t come across as a hateful figure.*

This is spot on. I recently listened to the Trump, Vance and Musk sessions on JRE.

The banter with Vance was interesting, Musk was his usual nerdy self and Trump was ranting a bit, but none of them projected any Dark Lord vibes. They came off as regular people.

Demonization doesn't really work with interviews like that being one click away in your smartphone.

Constant repeating of "Enemy Within" isn't Dark Lord vibes? Agree to vehemently disagree.

If presidents could be prosecuted for their official acts then the next time the other party takes over they will just immediately find various crimes their predecessor “committed” (there are probably 10s of 1000s of them).

"If presidents could be prosecuted for their official acts"

This has always been presumed to be the case yet it has never resulted in what you say. It's a nonsense theoretical as cover for what is otherwise utterly indefensible as making the president king.

Everyone seems to be calling this "blanket immunity" but that's not right. It's immunity for official acts which are the prerogative of the president. Basically the president is allowed to do all presidential things without having to worry about whether it will be deemed illegal.

This doesn't mean that the president cannot be tried for some illegal act that was not their official duty. Murdering someone, for example.

Anything can be made an official act. That's why this is unfathomably bad.

A strong likelihood of an historic hurricane season is news. At a minimum it alerts people in hurricane areas to plan ahead.

This is a NIMBY induced problem. If upward construction had been allowed, this wouldn’t be the case.

Who to blame probably does not matter one whit to those affected.
