Author here. I am amazed it made frontpage.

openbsd's httpd seems to be handling the load well.

I will read your comments if any :)

This is amazing. Great work! And I love how active the Amiga scene still is :)

Spotify is way ahead of Apple Music on everything to do with discovery. I tried to switch to Apple Music (mostly for the Homepod Mini support) and really disliked the apple music app.

I had the same experience. I went into it and really wanted to buy into Apple Music but after a couple of painful months I went back to Spotify.

No, it says "the pop-up will appear even when Microsoft Edge is the default browser... The company is not targeting people who use Google Chrome and Firefox as default browsers."

I.e., it shows up for everyone, not just people who aren't using Edge already. They aren't specifically targeting Chrome and Firefox users; they are just also included in the group.

Can confirm that I never encountered this behavior and I have Edge (although Canary) as my default browser at the moment.

This isn't entirely accurate. The Air starts at 1129 EUR in Germany, presumably it's the same in the rest of Europe. That's 1344 USD right now, but that's not an entirely fair comparison since this price is after tax whereas the USD prices are generally before tax. Before taxes, the Air is actually 1129 USD in Germany (current exchange rate and taxes cancel each other out). More than a 1000, but significantly less than 1500.

1498 EUR in Croatia. I'm glad is cheaper for you.

edit: I love I how I keep getting downvoted on HN if I dare say anything about the M1. Even if it's the true like the price of the machine.

Both Minis and Airs start at under $1000, and they're all the same speed.

Air starts at $1500 if you're not in the USA

What do you need 32GB for? Video editing? ML training on CPU? I have to imagine this is a minority.
immigrantsheep · 5 years ago
Run and compile very big C++/.net applications and big scenes in Unreal Engine and Houdini.

edit: I love how I got downvoted because my work can't fit into a toy Mac M1

What the hell, enough with this! My main dev machine until a few months ago was a Dell laptop with 8 GB of RAM on Ubuntu. I ran RubyMine on it all day, some Sublime, Spotify, Slack, MariaDB, Thunderbird, LibreOffice, and I had no problems whatsoever. The only reason it ever ran out of RAM was a memory leak in Firefox.

That's good for you and I'm glad you're happy but for some of us, considering the work with are doing, sometimes even 32GB is not really enough. Different people, different needs.
