This happens at Walmart Canada all the time. The policy there is to slash 10$ off shelf price (or free for anything 10 or less).

Since COVID, Walmart has stopped having immediate fixes of the problem.

Since 2020, I have accumulated about $1200 in free merchandise using the above. Almost always food.

Wealth, not Will
iinnPP · 24 days ago
It's possible to live on social assistance and build 3D models and offer them for free. So willpower seems more relevant than wealth.

I hope everyone who is so outspoken about loot crates are also fighting for TCG packs to be banned/regulated because they are literally the same level of "gambling".

Let's not forget mystery boxes for real toys and things like mini brands.

Though I am not outspoken about it, I think individuals need to come to terms with telling themselves no.

Otherwise we need to outlaw everything bad and open to abuse to specific individuals. Things such as cake, donuts, coffee, etc.

iinnPP commented on Discord says 70k users may have had their government IDs leaked in breach   theverge.com/news/797051/... · Posted by u/PaulKeeble

It is a common misconception that facts are reported because they are surprising. Facts are reported because they are important. More and more governments are passing age verification laws which put exactly this data in to the hands of even more shady private companies. This breach serves as evidence that those laws are misguided, and spreading news of this event may help build public support for those efforts.

Things that cease to be surprising can also cease being important. Which is made clear reading the remainder of the post.

It's my take as well, frankly.

iinnPP commented on California law forces Netflix, Hulu to turn down ad volumes   politico.com/news/2025/10... · Posted by u/c420

I think there's so much snake oil in the ad business because it is indeed hard to measure the effectiveness of ads, in particular when shown in places where you cannot track the user behavior and correlate the ad with subsequent user behavior. In the end, platforms like Netflix and Hulu don't need to prove that a higher volume works, but perhaps their customers think that it works, and that is enough.

This service problem is fixed like most media-related service problems. Sailing.

MPC has the ability to normalize volume in a video automatically.

The banks at the center of the 2008 crisis are largely international. Is your question about the entire western international finance system and all societies comprising it?
iinnPP · 3 months ago
It's generalized to any grouping.

Having written laws means nothing when they are not equally enforced. Which is the norm in the West.

For example: Intentional wage theft.

I'm unconvinced. Banks wield massive political power through their capital, and so get away with highway robbery all the time. 2008 financial crisis comes to mind. It seems to me that the rules are one sided and so it seems this "foundational part" of high functioning society is just guarding the highwaymen with the cityguard, when the swords should be facing the other direction.
iinnPP · 3 months ago
Could it be that you're not in a high functioning society, rather than the point being invalid?
