Did not realise this was a third party company until i read here, I'm very surprised they're allowed to get that close to the branding without an infringement.

Yet again that recommended sleep aid application is a £24.00 a year subscription. I'd have paid £35 for a one off, but alas, I'll read the comments and figure it out another way. I'm so sick of subscription everything.

2014-2020 was the best in every category. That calculator icon was perfect.

Oh no. It looks like every button and menu is now a translucent layer, so that any noise from the background shows through and muddles the text. This seems like an accessibility nightmare.

Translucent layers generally make software unusable for me. In the video, I saw several instances that would be really really bad for me, where I’d be straining to understand the text. Looks really cool and futuristic though. Just like a movie. Big whoop.

I’m autistic, but this won’t only affect autistic people. A lot of people are going to have problems with this. I hope there’s a very prominent way to turn it off.

There is, they outline it in this video. It looks like there are three ways to turn it off: high contrast, reduced motion, and frostier glass. So it looks like there's just a way to have a full basic icon with just the icon and the outline and a white background.

This feels a little over blown, but on the other hand, you've got to have an angle and I think this is the right angle.

I’ve been using this for some time and I have to say it is fantastic. I’m intentionally not writing this with Aqua but by hand and it is taking so much longer. This to me feels like what Apple Intelligence could be, it is so much better than stuff all of the big tech is doing. For example, if you tell Siri voice dictation to go back and delete something what Siri will do is just write out “go back and delete something“ also if you tell Siri to go back and spell a name differently all Siri will do is write out the letters that you said to go back and type out. Honestly, for voice dictation software it feels like travelling to another planet in terms of improvement.

Plenty of examples. The problem isn't JG. It is Tim Cook. He is exceptionally poor at judging character. And I have been saying this for 10+ years.

John Browett, CEO of Dixons. Anyone from UK have said WTF at the time.

Angela Ahrendts, CEO of Burberry, the two together Apple has literally stopped expanding their Retail store despite having 10x as much customers. Rolled out many "changes" to Apple store when nearly every single one of them were walked back to Steve Jobs era. Mainly by Deirdre O’Brien who has been with Apple for 20+ years.

Changes of Direction in PR. Which leads to Katie Cotton leaving.

Forced out Scott Forstall. Tim is suppose to be the mediator.

Promote Craig Federighi, after all these years I am still not convinced he is the right person for the job. Especially after merging iOS and macOS team together.

Putting too much trust on Eddy Cue and sidelined Phil Schiller. Apple TV+, Apple Music, Apple Fitness, Apple Books, News, All these services are Eddy Cue. The committee that ultimately ruled for Apple's 30% cut? Tim Cook and Eddy Cue.

Probably a few more names missing.

I don't know if Ahrendts is in this category she did transform Burberry into a high-end luxury online sales+retail company. She really was the exact opposite of the old head of the Currys boss, John Browett. I think she was responsible for how the Apple Watch is sold. For example, trying it on and having that experience. It's a tricky thing to get right, and I think she's got it spot on. Also, the watch strap business must have one of the highest margins ever, and I feel like she must be in part responsible for those sales and how you try on the straps. That Apple Store feels a lot like going into a Burberry where you can just experience stuff and people are happy to talk to you about anything and not try and sell you anything, so I'm not sure she should be in the category of everyone else you have here because in that respect, the stores do feel very good.

How do you monetize something that is based on a trait that most lack (vanity)?
idk1 · 6 months ago
I'll just hop in and say I enjoy putting outfits togther, it's fun, it's creative. I don't think of myself as vain, it's more like interior design, it's fun to put things togther that I find pleasent to look at.

You don't need brand recognition when you have market capture. Microsoft can murder a small puppy every time you buy Office and send you a photo, and you will still pay them because what else will you do.
idk1 · 7 months ago
See how good the brand is, you called it Office :) that doesn't exist any more.

Feels like madness to get rid of the Office brand, such a strong name and brand, like Twitter or iPhone. Office must be worth billions in brand recognition. Ingoring everything else, that alone feels like a mistake.
