This is correct. AI is a huge boon for open source, bespoke code, and end-user programming. It's death for business models that depend on proprietary code and products bloated with features only 5% of users use.

possibly also a boon for automated testing tools and infra designed for ai-driven coding.

Having a viable alternative to the KHTML-lineage engines (blink/webkit) besides Gecko will be a boon for the web.

I haven't been super happy with Mozilla's management of Firefox, although it's my daily driver and a great browser. I just don't have super high confidence it'll be viable long term from a corporate standpoint, especially since it's largely been payrolled by Google which makes Blink, so having another real alternative would be great. Having a sustainable, grassroots community project in Servo makes me have hope again (after Mozilla dropped the ball on them...)

not mozilla-related, but there's also the ladybird project if you're looking for sustainable alternatives: https://ladybird.org/

This looks remarkably similar to https://github.com/vercel-labs/agent-browser

How is it different?

vibium clicker, too. https://github.com/VibiumDev/vibium/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.m...

"browser automation for ai agents" is a popular idea these days.

I had a vision for a fun project, made decisions, tried to understand why to make certain decisions or what was working or not.

I didn't write the front page index.html and I don't want to. Sure, I prompted it how I wanted to look, though.

tl;dr I had fun and learned stuff.

ignore the haters. this is cool. (and i've been vibe coding with claude code and termux for months. it's good stuff.)

i would highly recommend you add guidance on automated data backups, though. my pixel phone went "black screen of death" on me and one of my projects is trapped in there until i can replace the screen.

i'm vibe coding vibium, a test automation tool in the spirit of playwright and selenium. (was #1 on hn last week for a little bit with a lively discussion.)

Is there any plan about how to deal with indirect prompt injection attacks that could trivially be lurking in malicious web pages, given the agent can navigate to an arbitrary URL?
hugs · 2 months ago
short-term mediation is always always always run it in a virtual machine with as minimal credentials as possible.
