It's Ireland. Europe generally has higher expectations of the behavior of companies. The 'unapologetic and robotic' style of communication is very American. It literally costs nothing to be a bit kinder. They spend a fortune building their image as a great place to work then nuke it when the going gets tough.
Not that anyone should believe all that 'we're a family' garbage anyway, for any company.
