> As an US citizen, do you really want to fight for the "rights" of muslim students to chant "from the river to the sea" while burning american flags on campuses?

Vehemently, yes.

I will fight with everything available for the right of anyone to say anything critical about anyone else. Including burning the American flag, the Israeli flag, or the Palestinian flag.

Free speech is free speech. Get out of here with this authoritarian take.

“Break a few eggs”. This is digusting rhetoric.

I'm curious, how often throughout history has a statement like "that guy is an idiot" had an unnamed person been so easily and widely recognized.

We all know who you are talking about, just like everyone know what "guy" I'm talking about.

Why would they remove Habeus Corpus?

"The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it."

hightrix · 19 days ago
To detain political opponents without cause or proof. To do the same to critics, comics, anyone that has ever posted/said anything negative about the admin, and on and on.

Removal of Habeus Corpus means you can be detained without cause, and you do not get a chance to defend yourself.

This is what dictators do.

hightrix commented on Meta joins Google in ragequitting EU political ads over onerous regulations   theregister.com/2025/07/2... · Posted by u/rntn

So you're telling me that the most manipulative people in any society aren't able to use Google and Meta to manipulate for their own gain?

... is that a problem?

hightrix · a month ago
I’d love for the same to happen in the US.

This seems like a huge positive.

What stops you from dual-booting?

You use Windows for games, and only games. For everything else, you use Linux.

This is a practical setup.

hightrix · a month ago
I'd argue it isn't a practical setup.

Dual-booting means supporting 2 OSes on my personal machine. My personal machine is for doing personal things, not supporting OSes.

I use windows on my main PC because it supports all the games I want to play, and it also supports all the software I want to use. Linux does not. Simple as that, for me.

I also use Linux and Mac at work daily. I prefer to use the right tool for the job.

Do you truly believe the US involvement in UNESCO was cruft?

This is entirely because of Palestine.

hightrix commented on Florida is letting companies make it harder for highly paid workers to swap jobs   businessinsider.com/flori... · Posted by u/pseudolus
onlyrealcuzzo · 2 months ago
Florida doesn't have that many highly paid workers.

They've got a decent amount of rich retired or passive income folks.

Aren't they trying to attract high earners from high tax places like NYC?

This sounds like a bad idea if you're trying to convince people from NYC to move to FL, which sounds like a bad idea for the businesses it's presumably trying to serve.

But what do I know?

hightrix · 2 months ago
There is a large medical technology presence in Florida. Many of these people are highly paid.

ive been coding 5+ hours a day almost every day for 15 years. i think ai will replace 70% of SWE in the near future. not employement, but 70% of the current work done by engineers
hightrix · 2 months ago
Agreed. I see AI as a major tool upgrade in the same way the IDE was an upgrade from text editors. It will quickly replace the need to do trivial things and greatly reduce the time needed to do complex things.

Please stop with the straw man BS. That's not what I was saying at all and I think you know that.

HN has reached Reddit levels of partisan nonsense. Sigh.

Please stop defending masked thugs that don’t identify themselves kidnapping us citizens and trafficking them to foreign countries.

Previous administrations followed this thing we call “due process”. This admin is not.
