The front page should clearly answer this question: Do Android apks run on it without downsides
heartag · 10 months ago
Agree that the website should do this. But adding here that the answer is "Mostly, yes." e/os/ includes microg by default, which replaces some of the Google Services with open source implementations.

People often do not realize that slavery was common in every culture on the planet up until the Industrial Revolution set us all free. Oil went to work instead of human backs. We have viable replacements like nuclear, but it has been over-regulated to the point of strangulation. We need fresh thoughts in this area instead of just "oil bad". Hopefully this individual brings that.

It's ugly in comparison to the cyberpunk aesthetic it failed to capture. We live in a golden age of available cyberpunk design and art, yet the cybertruck only draws inspiration from an elementary school line drawing.

I worked for a startup designing solar panel meters during the 2016 administration, and know firsthand how damaging it was. The tariffs put in place affected raw materials for the panels, but somehow not the finished products from overseas that we were competing with. The entire R&D branch had to be frozen out until it was over.

Musk's attacks on the real heroes of disaster relief is insane. And completely separately, the scummy half-truth behind his free internet claim is insane.

Getting a human to help is impossible at Facebook, and it's on purpose. I lost $200 to a scammer on Marketplace, and the only recourse was to go through my credit card company.

... Don't buy things on Marketplace that offer shipping. The seller will give you a real tracking number to an unrelated package with the same zip code destination, which means it is much harder to claim that the package never arrived to you.

heartag commented on Ask HN: Do you track how your email address is used?    · Posted by u/themingus

Fastmail offers per-service generated addresses. I think it's kind of fascinating to watch my email address that went solely to my local credit union start sending me spam somewhat related to my employer.
