Too bad iOS makes it very hard to disable bluetooth. Android was swipe+click, iOS it's swipe, two long presses, two clicks. Or you can type it, but that's obviously more clicks (though possibly faster).

I used to make the effort when I switched from Android, but I already gave up...

Am I missing something? Swipe from the top, tap to disable BT?

Slightly off topic: I’m setting up a home server on a Mini PC that has Windows 11 Pro pre-installed. I want to attach it to my TV and play retro games as well as run home automation tasks (periodic scripts, UniFi controller, Pihole etc)

Is anyone using Proxmox on their homelabs? Would you recommend blowing away Windows and installing Proxmox and then install Windows with PCIE passthrough?

If the pc is beefy enough (win 11 pro runs smoothly) just go with the included hyper-v. Imho you don’t get any benefits installing proxmox on bare metal in this scenario. YMMV of course

Not sure if it's just me but I routinely get stuck in a captcha redirect loop with archive.today (like captcha button, get redirected back to same captcha page)

It’s the same for me

Is there a reason why Apple have never offered induction charging? Isn't that the best way to charge a phone? We completely avoid the wearing out of the port itself, potentially avoiding repairs and extending its lifetime if spare USB charging boards are no longer available. I'm wondering why every single phone hasn't it.
haraldooo · 2 years ago
What do you mean? iPhones support „magsafe 2“ since 2017 (?) and Qhi-Charging since forever. And no, there is no „general best“ - you at least have to deal with the energy that is lost through induction.

If you can put javascript and animations in pdf, what's stopping you from making a frontend in it? I wonder what are the frontiers of things you can do in pdf.

Honestly, it seems like only malware authors benefit from the complexity of pdfs.

MacOS‘s Quartz (original 2D rendering) is based on pdf: https://www.prepressure.com/pdf/basics/osx-quartz

Pardon the lay question, but is it really the only way out of the network? Can't programs initiate connections while skipping the system-wide configured proxy?
haraldooo · 2 years ago
Sure they can.. but they can’t get around your outgoing firewall rule that reroutes alle traffic for certain ports to the proxy.

If every instinct you have is wrong, then the opposite would have to be right.
