Isn't it obvious that you can't negotiate effectively if nobody trusts you?

Trust doesn’t matter if you have the most powerful military force in the world. You think the middle eastern countries surrounding Israel trust Netanyahu? Nope, but they sure fall in line and keep the negotiated peace because let’s face it, all of them combined will crumble before a single Israeli battalion. Might does indeed work in negotiations regardless of trust.

My assumption is that Trump understands what a mess he has gotten himself into and wants to extricate his head, without losing face. Congressional action will allow him to do that because he can blame congress for undoing his tariffs which was a good idea all along. This is the only way out.

I don’t think that’s a fair assumption.

So where is the bottom?

I don’t actually believe there is one, I’m just curious to hear what other people think.

Only one man knows the answer to this question.

Sugar industry, tobacco industry, oil industry.

Which other industries have distorted reality, and which future ones will be revealed in the coming decades?

War/Weapons industry has been very active lately.

I haven't fully thought through this, but -

Why can't regulators try splitting Boeing up, anti-trust style? Part of the issue is that there's no competition. (Yes, Airbus, but tariffs seem to factor into purchasing decisions a lot.) If you create more competition, everybody should benefit.

Except shareholders

Adding this to my collection of reasons why remote work is better. My home office has direct sunlight from 10:00-16:00 every day of the year. I've never been to a commercial office that comes close.
hackly · 2 years ago
Some people only get sunlight from stepping out of their tiny homes or basement offices to go work at the office.

Only for the upper class. The lower class still has to go man the gas stations, grocery stores, warehouses, and factories.
hackly · 2 years ago
Don’t think it has to do with class. Surgeons and dentists still need to show up to work. Even in tech, the higher up you are, the more likely you will want to be in the office.
