Most people don't mind enough to put in any effort to move to something less sucky.

Some do, and you get things like that one paid search engine that a few people here like to praise, or the various replacements for the big "social" sites.

Effort or actually pay for services that are good.

Need to add AI agents are also raising hosting web content costs. The freebie won’t last for too long before AI will have to pay something to crawl the web

No constraints when writing. Not having to fit your thoughts into some predetermined format on the computer helps.

No editing either. Also no undo. I think this is forcing one to in memory buffer edit before putting it down on paper which is a good thing once learned.

my neighborhood weed guy would never betray my trust in this way.

Your neighborhood weed guy would never have your personal information, perhaps not even your full name, a nickname would suffice. But I get the point and the pun. It’s all a big charade

EQ, SQ and whatever other-q, are not really a true thing. They're more feel good tests for Facebook dwellers who get confused on IQ tests.

There are social assessments, but they are for identifying disorders.

Same could be said about IQ..

Oh, wow. It looks like they’re really afraid of Mamdani. This kind of action may backfire

It will do worse, because people control the AI and they would be even less accountable than the politicians we have now.

An AI run society is a dictatorship with extra steps.

(Barring some kind of democratic AI tuning / training / goal setting / oversight process, which seems like a stretch given we can barely align humans with electoral preferences).

I think an AI run society has the potential to be whatever we decide it to be. But as you say, a dictatorship is very likely if very few powerful/rich people decide how to build it and it seems like that’s the case.

One of the reasons I purchased a (newer but used Mazda) was because it still has buttons and knobs right next to the driver's right hand in the center console. I can operate parts of the car without even having to look.

(another reason was because it still has a geared transmission instead of a CVT, but that's a separate discussion)

Look ma, I can change the air conditioning controls without looking moment.

A friend got a tesla on lease and it was quite cheap, 250/month. Been driven in that car a few times and was able to study the driver using the controls and it’s hideusly badly designed, driver has to take eyes off the road and deep dive in menus. Plus that slapped tablet in the middle is busy to look at, tiring and distacting. The 3d view of other cars/ pedestrians is a gimmick, or at least it looks like one to me. Does anyone actually like that? Perhaps im outdated or something but I wouldn’t consider such a bad UX in a car.
