I do something similar but 1. for aliases and 2. use period. For example, when working on a Rails project I define the following alias:

    function .routes() {
      if [[ $# -eq 0 ]]; then
        .rails routes
      else
        .rails routes | grep $@
      fi
    }
where .rails is another alias (for running bundle exec rails ...). I can then run ".routes webhook" and see all routes containing "webhook".

Last but not least, I automated the whole thing with bash-ctx (https://github.com/gregnavis/bash-ctx).

It is very important for national stability. A highly-interconnected global economy is arguably better at securing international stability.

I used to believe that but have started to serious doubt it. Some counter-arguments:

1. It's reasoning a'la "It's economically inefficient therefore it's less likely to happen". In my opinions, governments are absolute experts in implementing economically nonsensical policies, international conflicts included.

2. Any link between nations can be weaponized, i.e. imposing tariffs, banning imports/exports, and so on. The greater your dependency on me the more ways I have to harm you.

3. Such weaponization will naturally harm your own citizens but you, as a decision maker, will bear very little cost.

4. The easier it is for me to replace you with an alternative the more likely I am to use that against you -- this is classic BATNA. You don't like my export quota? So what, I've got more interest than I can handle and you can build your batteries without lithium if you don't like that.

Are these grocery-delivery services popular in the states / somwehere else? Never understood the market for them in the EU. Either you live in a city, have - at worst - 10-15 min to walk to a store, or you live outside a city where it is 10-15 min with a car to a store and the service is not available. They will die as soon as they stop subsidize the cost with VC money.

It's much more convenient if you have a system for doing groceries. Compare visiting 2 stores in walking distance (~ 90 minutes total) vs putting a predefined list into your basket and optionally add or remove a few items (~ 10 minutes).

Hello, author here. I did not plan to have a wide announcement today tbh. This is the repo: https://github.com/windmill-labs/windmill

I have my YC interview in 10 minutes and wanted to OSS it before. Agree it lacks a lot of polishing, but that will be done in about 2 weeks :)

JS/TS through Deno is coming in a week, I am currently working on a draft pull request for it.

Really happy to answer all the questions after my interview :)

(I host the demo on a small hetzner node, please be gentle to it, I will scale it up asap :))

PS: Since it's HN: The backend is all in Rust and the feature I am most proud of is automatic parameters and dependency inference for locking the dependency versions and generating the frontend of your app by analyzing the scripts using simple but surprisingly good heuristics :)

What did you build the website with? It looks really nice and I’m looking for something I could use with my project. [1]

I use https://rectangleapp.com/pro and really enjoy this app (I paid for it, it gets a lot of updates/fixes).

It mostly takes care of snapping and resizing windows with hot keys, but has a less obvious feature in preferences to use mouse.

My setup is: CMD+SHIFT will move any window under mouse pointer CMD+SHIFT+CTRL will resize any window under mouse pointer

I didn’t realize there’s a pro version so thank you for posting this. I’m going to give it a try and will pay happily if it improves my workflow.
grn commented on Ask HN: At what point do you have 2 pages in your resume?    · Posted by u/lampshades
grn · 4 years ago
I’ve prepared a three-page version with the intent of reducing it down to a page or two per application. I ended up using the full version in all applications with project specific highlights in each.

I’ve never had a one-page resume. It was two pages until recently. I’ve played a lot of roles (backend, front end, kernel, system level, infrastructure, product design, leadership, consulting) and a longer resume makes it easier to show that versatility — its my major selling point.

I think what to put there and how to phrase it is MUCH more important than length.
