Unfortunately it is a 11mb install, which makes it quite unfitting for your usual openwrt device

I refuse to use browsers that come tied deeply with the os. Last one I used was IE6

Thats all I have to say about these tactics over the last decades

I don't trust Time Machine any more. Years ago I wrote some shell scripts that help me mostly automate my complete system setup (with brew and friends). From time to time, I wipe my entire system and restore it with these scripts. Sometimes I have to adjust them, but mostly, they work without changes.

For my data backups, I use restic. Big advantage is, that I can read my backups even when I don't have a macOS system present (e.g. my only macOS system had a hardware issue and my Time Machine Backup was pretty much useless until I got a new one).

I know, this solution is not for everybody, but Time Machine corrupted my backups more than 5 times now and it feels so slow compared to restic, that I don't even think about retrying it after a new macOS release any more - even if my solution is a bit more work to do.

Keep brew far away from your prod system. Everything you can‘t do in macos just use a vm. Don‘t touch the system and Timemachine will never corrupt, its that easy in my experience.

From a hacking perspective, DJI previously seemed to be pretty nice with SDKs etc allowing you to get the video feed, send controls to the drone etc. But from what I can see they stopped supporting this for most (commercial) drones from Mavic 3 and onwards... Anybody know otherwise?

What I'd want is to be able to remote control it from any other device, it doesn't really matter if it's an Android/iOS app or running on linux/windows.

One can vnc into the dji rc and control it from wherever you are.

Problem is: the remote disables radios when connected to usb/power.

So rooting the dji android (which the FCC hack does) is a must and then you only need to enable the radios.. only..

This general concept is very similar to Apple’s Bonjour based “Sleep Proxy” service. Basically, if you have an Apple TV or something similar it will automatically wake up a sleeping device when someone requests its services. SSH or media sharing for example. While a device is sleeping the proxy will keep advertising its services via Bonjour. Low power always-on Apple devices are sleep proxies by default but you can turn any Mac into a Sleep Proxy by passing a flag to mDNSResponder.

More details: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonjour_Sleep_Proxy

I kind of made a general purpose sleep proxy myself a few years ago with a apache and some cgi scripts getting triggered when I visit my /jellyfin or /guacamole

It just listened to the fixed routes, woke the server and proxied the page when finished (sometimes took 2 loads)

But basically is the same as in the arzicle except I didn‘t need to manually WOL anything and my server just went to sleep by itself

This reads really bad.

Maybe I‘m spoiled with proper linux posts but MS totally shines though with that. Yuck!
