I think a seriously overlooked application of this principle is in nutrition and dieting. Over- or under- eating by a small percentage of your required intake might not have a discernible effect immediately but really adds up over time, both for weight loss and gain.

Adaptive thermogenesis says otherwise.

At the same time, everybody seems to accept that the chance of getting cancer in your lifetime has risen to about one in three for men and one in five for women. And nobody knows why.

Because life expectancy has also risen; people who used to be dying of other things are now living long enough that cancer is more common.

That's funny. Mine is "mi hermano esta infirmo, pero mi pantalones son rojo". I'm so glad others share the urge to say something insane in other languages they don't know!

That would be: Mi hermano está enfermo, pero mis pantalones son rojos.

Check out the Jalopy videogame, where you own, drive and repair a car inspired by the Trabant.

I would have expected this to be proof-read, as it is a direct excerpt taken from a book, but it is filled with mistakes. Spelling, grammar, word order...

Maybe it is an excerpt of the first manuscript of the book.

Other than that, I find the concept very interesting, but quite intuitive too.
