Yes, xAI & Anthropic.

Electricity generation is the constraining factor, but the sun does not turn off in space. xAI data centers in space drives cost to zero, even with inferior models.

I see no other future than SpaceXai winning.

Lame. I was expecting Elmo to crack cold fusion in a ketamine-infused weekend and solve power constraints for the world.

Guess he is not as bright as he thinks he is.

In which broken society do you live where this is true? I would say drawing sexually explicit pictures of real persons without their consent and keeping them in your drawer is neither illegal nor morally reprehensible in most of the world.

I am with you on publishing these...

Not morally reprehensible? Do you tell your coworkers “hey, last night I sketched you nude, but it’s cool, it’s in my bedside drawer…”

Seems quite dangerous. In my country, this was the norm for local flights - usually smaller planes, 1-2hr flights. It was common that if you could not attend a meeting, a colleague would go with your ticket. Nobody cared.

Then one plane crashed. And some passengers weren't insured, as they were not officially on the plane. Those families could not get a body back, nor any compensation, as the company said that they could not prove they were on the plane.

I don't read the small print of IATA when getting a ticket, maybe I should someday.

I don't think it's the same. On older Apple hardware, it just keeps on running on the older OS version. You don't get some new features or styling of the new OS, but nothing else changes. On Windows, it periodically brings up full-screen notifications that your hardware is obsolete and you need to upgrade, with the only options being to upgrade or "remind me again later".

A company using legal action to protect their IP rights is so different from a theocratic dictatorship shutting down the entire Internet to prevent their overthrow. Perhaps you don't follow the news about Iran but these comments are incredibly daft.
freetanga · 18 days ago
The problem itself is not IP protection…. They tried that, and were always chasing behind - servers changed week after week, ban after ban.

So, misteriously (suspicions of bribery abound) now they block full blocks of internet preventively, bringing down innocent and paying customers with them. From Law Enforcement to privatized Minority Report.

Thats what people dislike. If you are a private entity and loose money to piracy, use the legal framework to solve it. Don’t override it with lobbying

Not who you're replying to (but I'm in the same camp). I use the album art as decoration, but the music is the first selection criteria. The music has to mean something to me first, and then the album art just needs to "pass".

I have young kids also, so I try to stay away from violent or scary album art.

I guess this is the thing preventing the release of the Epsteins files…

I imagine a 20-strong commission deciding whether to publish them in colibri or times new Roman.

To each their own. If there were a Psion that supported modern email, calendar, and task standards, with wifi sync, I would carry it most days. I basically never make phone calls anymore, and I always found the old greyscale LCDs to be very legible.

Caveat: such a device should not be infested with shitty spyware like everything else these days.

Isn’t that a Palma from BOOX? And I believe there were 1-2 competitors (Hisense phone?)

My manager wants me to make this silly AWS certification.

Let me go on a tangent about trains. In Spain before you board a high-speed train you need to go though full security check, like on an airport. In all other EU countries you just show up and board, but in Spain there's the security check. The problem is that even though the security check is an expensive, inefficient theatre, just in case something does blow up, nobody wants to be the politician that removed the security check. There will be no reward for a politician that makes life marginally easier for lots of people, but there will be severe punishment for a politician that is involved in a potential terrorist attack, even if the chance of that happening is ridiculously small.

This is exactly why so many companies love to be balls deep into AWS ecosystem, even if it's expensive.
