75 years to work on a solution to a possible problem? I rate humanity’s chances. But Europe is responsible for a third of cumulative emissions. Once they undo that bit it should be okay. Negative emissions for 75 years will be hard but they can perhaps undo the damage they’ve done to the Earth.

It is a global challenge. Climate change is caused by rich people in developed countries (the average Indian person causes very low co2 emissions). There are some good initiatives to mitigate climate change, but so far, it is too little, too late. The US taking a back seat does not help either.

Is this real? https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/research-frontiers/how-a-swiss-... Says it’s not.

Seems like this kind of disaster engagement bait that’s super popular now

Here’s the science: https://www.pik-potsdam.de/en/news/latest-news/possible-nort...

„Under high-emission scenarios, the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), a key system of ocean currents that also includes the Gulf Stream, could shut down after the year 2100.“

Rewrote The Guardian’s headline for clarity. Article suggests that economic forecasts and models around climate change fail to sufficiently model the impacts of shocks, like severe weather events, and that far more substantial negative economic impact is incredibly likely as a result.

I like the original title, „ Flawed economic models mean climate crisis could crash global economy, experts warn“. Why edit it?

You almost have to do this, or buy a used one at a markup, as nobody seems to make them anymore (except circular ones).

Still available in Germany („Rechenschieber“), eg https://www.wissenladen.de/products/der-rechenschieber

I am guessing a high percentage of wordle players prefer a wordle version which uses common words, and New York Times would prefer cater to those, rather than a smaller group of enthusiasts.

Maybe it should be „forked“

> In Apple Calendar it's not possible to see the full year, and still have some visibility into which events are happening on the individual days

It‘s weird in general how tools/ websites seem to avoid putting too much information on a screen (see also: event listings, …). Why is that? Most people have big screens nowadays, so it would be feasible to have a view like the one described here, at least for desktop calendars.

Is there a real practical solution to this? It seems like all proposed solutions in last 40 years are a drop in the ocean, or just a money grab scams. Only thing that really worked for such global scale is the ozone layer repair. Global warming/climate change I guess we should just accept it and adapt?

Don’t live like a rich person in a developed country - they’re the only ones whose co2 footprints are too high.

Please don’t take this as me saying you were wrong to ever trust Apple, however the best way to organise any data is usually just files on a disk.

That’s becoming a recurring theme for me and even some of my corporate clients now. Confluence, for example, is out the window for secure documentation around sensitive environments and Word Docs in One Drive are back in. It’s surprisingly refreshing and gets the job done way better.

Power tip: replace the Word docs with Markdown.

Interesting! I wonder a) how much of an issue this addresses, ie how much are people worried about privacy when they use other LLMs? and b) how much of a disadvantage it is for Confer not to be able to read/ train in user data.
