Author seems to be very idealistic, and I appreciate that he cares about the quality of the content he provides for free. Personal experience however shows me that when I look at a recipe site I will first have to skip through the entire backstory to the recipe and then try to parse it inbetween annoying ads in a bloated wordpress page. I can't blame anyone who prefers to simply prompt a chatbot for exactly what hes looking for.

Maybe not the most pertinent place for me to share my recipe site project (as it uses a model for reformatting recipe structures), but by rehashing recipes into recipe cards it incidentally but effectively removes the fluff: https://gobsmacked.io

I really like the design of this!

This is perhaps a bit more of a philosophical point but I think that I find the separation of quantity and ingredient perhaps a little arbitrary - in many cases they're coupled tightly e.g. I've only ever found 'cloves' as a quantity to refer to garlic.

I've personally always wanted recipes to be prefixed with a mise en place section of steps - e.g. instruct the reader explicitly to dice onions, etc. in the main body of the recipe rather than imply the step in the ingredient description - what do you reckon?

I agree wholeheartedly - in fact the css class I actually use for the 'notes' column is MEP, for mise en place. That was the original intent for that column but it has become something of a catch all over time. I wonder if a mise en place component at the top of the recipe, in a separate grid, would be useful?

I love this thing for process view. Can you share the code so I can fork and build for our academic groups who need help with processes?

Would be happy to discuss! Shoot me an email so I can understand a bit more, email can be found on my site in my bio or on gobsmacked!

Really neat tool! I’ve always grouped ingredients vertically and instructions horizontally, so I love how your tool automates this and makes it aesthetically pleasing.

UX feedback: Make the sample recipe graphs larger, especially at "tablet" size. Tablets are often used in the kitchen, and laptop screens are sometimes set to half-width for multitasking. Consider stacking the sidebar at a larger breakpoint.

Minor note: The border-radius on cards causes a small gap at the top-right for cards with simultaneous instructions.

Also, my recipe didn’t save after I entered my email and used the link. Great work overall!

Thank you for the note! I appreciate the feedback and will test out some bigger sizing, as well as check out the recipe saving.

That's great, I really like it. My main thought is that most of non-american engineers favor SI units, so getting values in cups, ounces and pounds is not too great.

A possible improvement would be to replace freedom units with their international counterpart (with sane rounding to a two digits precision, or similar).

Thank you! I agree completely. Right now it just uses the units in the original recipe, but being able to toggle between the two is definitely something I would like to do.

I like this execution! I created something similar, www.pigeon.ooo, with the intent of eventually adding some scheduling functionality but alas, my own schedule has filled up so have not had a chance yet.
