The Crazy Horse Memorial has been going since the 1940s. It's progressing nicely.

I’ve met so many people who only have that one album on their devices, and it plays every time they plug into their car or connect via Bluetooth. And they are all just annoyed/accepting of it. My wife was one of them. And what made it worse was you couldn’t just pause it: with her car’s particular head unit, anything you touched (like the volume control) would cause the head unit to issue another “play music” command to restart it. Eventually enough was enough and I figured out how to remove the album for good.

If I'm reading all this correctly, it sounds like Apple has a system that will automatically play unintended music at various times from the music library. The only way to prevent this is to completely wipe out the entire library.

And the chief complaint is that there is an album in the library.

I averaged 5 years off, but my average would have been much better without one photo that I botched by 16 years because I'm unfamiliar with early 19th century swimsuit styles.

There were 2 major world events represented, that helps. Clothing style helps.

If you guessed the 19th century, you were off by a bit more than 16 years.

I haven't used EmberJS in 10 years and was eyeing svelte for some personal projects. Given this article it's made me shy about that. Maybe it's time to look at ember again. I know vanilla JS + htmx is mentioned elsewhere here and worth exploring too. However, as you've said a stable API is very nice these days in the JS world

Ember is working through a migration replacing their build system and bundler with Vite -- all while maintaining backwards compatibility to a version released in 2021. Ember will be fun to watch in the coming year.

I started with version 1.0. Such an incredibly elegant language. I choose it not to feed the Microsoft Monopoly, but in the end, and after the most incredible f*ck ups by Borland, VB won. I used D7 for many years. Now I use it only as a hoby language.

What do you mean Microsoft bought it? IT was never bought by MS.

I think "it" is the startup, not Delphi.

Maybe it was Larry who actually wrote the opening words to the song Vertigo.

You’re incorrect.

> For over 50 years, freight railroads have been required by law to provide Amtrak with “preference” to run passenger trains ahead of freight trains.

earthtograndma · 10 months ago
The very next sentence is: "However, many freight railroads ignore the law because it is extremely difficult for Amtrak to enforce it, and as a result, people and the American economy suffer."

This entire page is an attempt by Amtrak to explain why the trains are always waiting for freight traffic. I've taken the train many times, and they yield to freight traffic for hours every trip.
