dustymcp commented on Did we lose our way in making efficient software?   rufatmammadli.medium.com/... · Posted by u/rumad

Yes because we promote blog posts on “idiomatic ruby” and “premature optimization is the root of all evil”. “Performance is less important than dev time”.

We used to have developers who took less time and wrote better code.

dustymcp · 2 years ago
I dont agree, there is way more help in terms of writing efficient code today than there was back in time, ive seen horrible code from that time which would not have been produced today.

It's a meme you're spending money on.

Meme transmission is a kind of peer pressure, the entire thing seems prickly to me from a moral perspective. I for one don't appreciate being pressured to spend money on things I don't need or want.

N.B. the last commit/release for Swashbuckle was Jan this year.

https://github.com/RicoSuter/NSwag might be a better choice for a new project. It look much more maintained and active than Swashbuckle

dustymcp commented on Danish artist told to repay museum €67,000 after turning in blank canvasses   bbc.com/news/world-europe... · Posted by u/chatmasta
Daviey · 2 years ago
I think you've misunderstood the intent of why someone commented on the museum director being amused. I think the understanding is that if the person who commissioned the work was "happy" with the result, then the artist had fulfilled his contract by supplying work that the commissioner was "happy with", despite it not being as they thought they were getting.

However, as it now turns out the money was only "lent" to the artist, so it wasn't his to retain. THAT is the reason that the reaction of the director isn't relevant.

Yes that money was not payment but a prop to the artpiece.

I've personally never been in a situation where analytics drove change. Even mere A/B testing seems like a ghost in (most?) organizations, where management or designers decide to force through their personal preferences.

That said, I would love to join such an organization. Any suggestions on where to find data driven jobs?

Yes, exactly. Integration is where the real power of these agents can live.

I really want an agent that can help me with pretty simple tasks - Hey agent, remember this link and that it is about hyper fast, solar powered, vine ripened, retroencabulators. - Hey agent, remember that me and Bob Retal talked about stories JIRA-42 and JIRA-72 and we agreed to take actions XYZ - Hey agent, schedule a zoom meeting with Joe in the afternoon next Tuesday. - Hey agent, what did I discuss with Bob last week?

Something with retrieval and functional capability could easily end up being easier to use than the actual UIs that are capable of doing these kinds of things now.

At least ai seems significantly more useful than crypto.

I feel both things are not really ready for primetime, but i agree AI is way more useful.
