After years of relying on Pocket, Feedly, and Reeder for my reading and storage workflow, I discovered that simple text files work better for processing notes with AI locally.
I wanted a solution that would: Work seamlessly across Apple devices; Let me read content in any app of my choice; Preserve metadata (URL, date); Save in simple .txt or .md files for AI processing; Sync across devices via iCloud or Dropbox.
Surprisingly, Apple Shortcuts can handle all this! The only UX challenge involves macOS/iOS privacy settings, which require "Always Allow" access for each website you request. However, there's a simple workaround: using a proxy server and granting access only to that domain.
