STEM PhD students typically pay with labor rather than cash. Labor to teach undergrads, and to perform other university research. (though they typically pay their undergrad with large piles of cash).

That is, very much, a substantial form of payment.

That source is Europe, not New York. It claims EV's are 24% heavier than ICE vehicles. That might be true in Europe but definitely not the case in the US where the average ICE vehicle is a 6000 pound truck and the average EV is a 4000 pound Tesla.

It also assumes they're using the same tires. EV owners put on EV tires, which are formulated to have a lower rolling resistance, quieter and last longer. All 3 of those correlate with lower dust.

Devil's advocate: If the officer is acting within the policy/training they are given by their employer (and that includes not being told to not do something) then it's the employer's fault, and we (the taxpayer/ultimate employer) are liable for that.

It's unclear that it works around Apple Find My, unclear that it's executable starting with a locked device, or that it's permanent.

At this point, I've seen no evidence that FireBeyond's extraordinary claims have any merit.

Tangentially, it is utterly trivial to completely bypass Apple MDM, in a manner that breaks nothing, and survives OS upgrades, minor and major. Just requires the right combination of three DNS names at one point of install, and no internet at another, and you will get a completely de-fanged Mac. The only time you need to repeat the process is if you completely erase the SSD.

I bet they rehearsed a dozen times and never failed as bad live. Got to give them props for keeping the live demos. Apple has neutered its demos so much it's now basically 2 hr long commercials.

The new Apple presentations are much more information dense, and tailored to the main (online) audience. They’re clearly better.
