In short: Microsoft changed our business so that we can be for-profit, and asserted its rights over IP so that the whole OpenAI rebellion thing that happened earlier can't happen again.

With some controversial topics like Nuclear Power on the German wikipedia or the Gaza conflict on the English one, wikipedia has become less than useless. Once an activist editor sith too much time gets hold of a page, it is game over for neutrality of wokipedia. Grokipedia might introduce some much needed competition.

I think it depends on the subject. Sure, I have heard a historian call it "Wickedpedia" because it gets all the facts wrong. But have a look at the "hash function" page. That is pretty in-depth.

However, this all misses the point that the article is making: It's a store of knowledge added to and edited by humans. At least they're not AI, the article says. I don't know if this is true, but if so, I find it compelling.

He calls the National Guard "federal troops". Just a quick chime in, the National Guard is a bit of a misnomer. The Guard reports to and takes orders from the governor of the state, in this case the state of California. Maybe they are "kinda" federal, but the only times I've ever heard the Guard activated are by the governors of various states. Yes, this is talking about someone calling for Trump to activate them, and I get that this guy is outraged over it. That's okay. Just wanted to add to the discussion.

I contacted the European Commission DMA team on this gross abuse of power (Google just followed Apple in this regard, who reacted to the DMA by coming out with this notarization of developers), here is they flacky answer:

"Dear citizen,

Thank you for contacting us and sharing your concerns regarding the impact of Google’s plans to introduce a developer verification process on Android. We appreciate that you have chosen to contact us, as we welcome feedback from interested parties.

As you may be aware, the Digital Markets Act (‘DMA’) obliges gatekeepers like Google to effectively allow the distribution of apps on their operating system through third party app stores or the web. At the same time, the DMA also permits Google to introduce strictly necessary and proportionate measures to ensure that third-party software apps or app stores do not endanger the integrity of the hardware or operating system or to enable end users to effectively protect security.

We have taken note of your concerns and, while we cannot comment on ongoing dialogue with gatekeepers, these considerations will form part of our assessment going forward.

Kind regards, The DMA Team"

The DMA is in fact cementing their duopoly power, the opposite of the objective of the law.

I'm currently using Goose[1]. My brother in law uses Claude Code and he likes it. It makes me wonder if I'm missing anything. Can anyone tell me if there's any reason I should switch to Claude Code, or comparisons between the two?
