Looks pretty cool. I wish I had something like this when I was moving to Seattle for my job. Anyway, because this looks like a ‘product’, here’s some constructive criticism:

- Consider adding ability to find places with low rent. This is one of the most important things people want. - Please consider extending this to atleast the entirety of the United States.

- I couldn’t find a filter for good schools. For many of my friends that’d be a major dealbreaker when buying or renting a place to live in. Quality of high schools nearby has a pretty strong effect on home prices.

- Try to use the ‘Show HN’ prefix in the post title if you want to demo something you personally made.

I get that young male PhD students find spying on people fascinating. I used to be fascinated by it also, until I became a sys admin and learned that people are immeasurably boring. But why is this research being encouraged? Do we really need more ways to attack computers and data? It's already obvious they will never be secure.

Honestly I don't understand this at all. HTML is really, really simple. CSS is also pretty simple until you get to layout, then it can get a bit tricky. JS starts simple, but it can get as hard as you want it. Writing a compiler? I wouldn't even know where to start.

CSS is simple? You either know too much or too little about it to reach this conclusion.

Keyboard setup says EN IN

No one - literally no one in India uses the 'EN IN' locale in India. Everyone uses the 'EN US' locale in India.

My impression is that Chinese and Indian stats seems to be intractable for different reasons (China because they fake every number they can, India because they have a hard time collecting them).
dharmatva · 4 years ago
I believe the Indian government has been meticulously (under-)reporting them. There are government websites that are updated daily with this information. That is likely not the reason. But I'd prefer to attribute this omission to foolishness/laziness rather than malice (once again).

I like how this tracker doesn't talk much about India or China at all (even though there were 2.3m deaths due to COVID there according to the Economist).

Interestingly, they do talk about Japan, South Korea, etc.

dharmatva commented on Ask HN: How did my LastPass master password get leaked?    · Posted by u/gregsadetsky

What, really??

This is too crazy of a coincidence to be a coincidence.

This is exactly what's happening to me, and same IP prefix.

What does it mean?

---

How old of account was this? Can you contact me by email (email in my profile)?

---

Two theories:

- there is a problem with LastPass

- you and I both had the same Chrome extension installed that was actually compromised, and that extension was listening to/sending passwords typed into lastpass.com

I last used this account/master password back in 2017. Is that similar-ish to when you used your account?

dharmatva · 4 years ago
I am having the same issue!!! One of my important passwords was leaked and in free use by a bunch of people who were all accessing my evernote account (thankfully it had nothing important in it). I've been on a spree to change my passwords since then.

I have been wondering - is this because of the following lastpass bug?
