My Linux drives are all encrypted, and one of the wonderful features of this is that there is no entity or force on this planet that can decrypt them.

What happens if I forget my keys? Same thing that happens if my computer gets struck by a meteor. New drive, new key, restore contents from backups.

It's simple, secure, set-and-forget, and absolutely nobody but me and your favored deity have any idea what's on my drives. Microsoft and the USGov don't have any business having access to my files, and it's completely theoretically impossible for them to gain access within the next few decades.

Don't use Windows. Use a secure operating system. Windows is not security for you, it's security for a hostile authoritarian government.

I'm not a huge fan of these experiments that subject the public to your random AI spam. So far it's bothered 10 companies directly with no legal authority to actually follow up with what is requested?

I'm not a huge fan of the unsolicited spam/letters/coupons/etc I get in my mail box from businesses and there's no way for me to opt out.

What do you use?

I personally use jellyfin and supply the media myself, though there are much better ways to do it.

I have a controversial question; In the UK, they have blade runners who take down CCTV. I would have expected a more aggressive response in the USA, considering the culture. Is this not happening?

Unpopular opinion, but I don't think banks should be able to loan out money that's not theirs, and printing money is bad.

Gold good, paper bad. But also, gold bad, because clipping.

If only there was a solution.

I know a few more, for example demonoid. This list is just a sunset. Inb4 "actually it's not Germany censoring. It's the ISPs"

I thought demonoid was dead dead?

Ofcom does what the government tells it to do. And the government does what people tell them to do. You underestimate the popular support for censorship laws in the UK - the country still had a legally-empowered "Board of Film Censors" in 2010...

My government doesn't seem to be listening to me, did you have yours professionally trained or something?

I'm thinking of self-hosting email sending for my applications. Does anyone know if, with DMARC/DKIM, email reputation moved from the IP to the domain? If I can make sure only my server can send mail from my domain, shouldn't the sending IP then be irrelevant?
deejaaymac · 4 months ago
Correct I often setup SPF/etc with the domain, no IP

When I was a teenager I played World of Warcraft for 5 years. During that time we did "raids" where 40 people have to pay attention and communicate, sometimes for longer than 8 hours, with people from around the globe.

If teenagers can do it, adults can do it. Period. And if they can't, skill issue I guess.
