Honestly I didn't know this was allowed.

I recently got a heat pump and am on a time-of-use tariff (https://octopus.energy/smart/cosy-octopus/) and have been thinking about pulling the plug on battery storage for a similar purpose (charge during the cheap hours; run the house off battery during the day). I am currently using between 40-50kWh per day - anyone have similar usage to this and can recommend batteries for this?

I just had Solaredge battery installed in my house in the UK (Had a solaredge PV and inverter so made sense even tho it was more than other setups). If you are up for a challenge https://springfall2008.github.io/batpred/ is AMAZING and basically optimises when to charge and discharge your battery.

I've got a heat pump and think my paypack period is going to be about 6 years.

Hit me up on bluesky (in profile) if you want more info!

I actually didn't know this was coming up and just bought an electric. They all kind of suck except for the Ego and the Ego is like $250.

Portland has gotten quite a bit more expensive. We've begun rejecting taxes, which as the self-selected second highest taxed city in the nation is new. Our economy has struggled to return post-COVID lockdowns. There's a lot more I could say but people are really feeling the economic squeeze. I doubt this will help, but is pretty minor when you think about housing, electricity, gas, and water costs that continue to rise as wages go down in the city. I call this place the city of a thousand cuts, there's a lot to like, but there's a lot that hurts too.

Ryanair used to do some things that were quite remarkably devious - the option to not by travel insurance was in the middle of drop-down list of countries!

To make sure I had remembered that correctly I looked it up and here is a description of it:

https://www.insurancetimes.co.uk/ryanair-to-change-hidden-tr...

NB I've travelled with Ryanair quite a lot and actually don't mind the actual flights but it is wise to manage expectations about the kind of company you are actually dealing with.

I’ve told people this before as I distinctly remember it being a thing and no one ever believes me!

Could you share what the config item is that you need to change for this? Or point to some docs?

My understanding is that if you just need to return a response to the client as quickly as possible, but are ok with then processing your task directly after that, then it's still usable today.

But if you want to schedule a task further in the future, then a new backend will be needed for that.

I think the bigger use case is being able to (backoff) retry failing API calls to 3rd party services. AFAIUI the new tasks package doesnt offer this in v1 which is a deal breaker for my project, at least.
