Got this spam today on my GitHub address, YC affiliated:

From: henry@joincactuscompute.com

Hey,

I hope all is well with you, just reaching out as you seem to be interested in on-device speech models.

Cactus is a low-latency AI engine for consumer devices like phones, Macs, wearables, Raspberry Pis, etc.

We support transcription models like Whisper & Parakeet, benchmarks available in the attached GitHub repo.

GitHub: https://github.com/cactus-compute/cactus

We are keen to get your feedback, and star if feeling generous.

Thanks a million

I have an older AirTag, which cannot be seen by my iPhone any more but gives a slight beep whenever it gets shaken. Anyone ever heard of the behavior?

I had a similar problem, the 5 reboots fixed it: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102577

I grew some mushrooms at home for the first time. Ate one at 8pm at a concert tonight. Its now 3am and despite taking melatonin, I cannot get to sleep.
cyann · 8 months ago
Melatonin is effective ~5 hours later. No need to take more than 0.3 mg.

What you should try is L-Theanine just before going to sleep, it's effective against Caffeine, not sure about Psilocybin.

Building in release:

  cargo build --release
  du -sh ./target/release/lstr -> 4.4M
Building with other release options brings it down to 2.3M:

  [profile.release]
  codegen-units = 1
  opt-level = "s"
  lto = true
  panic = "abort"
  strip = "symbols"

cyann · 9 months ago
I did some benchmarks on one of our CLI and found that `opt-level = "z"` reduced the size from 2.68M to 2.28M, and shaved 10% on the build time, worth a try.

I'll try with `panic = "abort"` for our next release, thanks for the reminder.

In case I was unclear, I consider Angular dead and obsolete.

Same, anGLuar sounds, for a french speaker, like https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/engluer

1. to birdlime

2. (reflexive) to get bogged down

The reason I said "(or Vue)" was specifically to say that there are other leading frameworks. I didn't say "or Angluar" because in my opinion it's a race between React and Vue at this point. But if you think there's a third contender, let me know. I'm always looking to learn.

My main point was to compare "frameworks" v.s. "no frameworks", rather than to say that React is best, but if you want my opinion then yes I do say React is indeed the best, and I admit it's an opinion not a fact. lol.

Angluar -> I'm using this from now on

That’s why I believe switching to permanent summer time would be a big mistake and would make kids suffer a lot more than they already do.

Summer time in winter would mean getting up 1h earlier, in most locations.

EDIT: for those questioning the effect, because “school would still start at the same time (7:45 am)”.

Imagine if we didn’t change 1 hour but instead 12h, and then still says: “why don’t get up? My clock says it’s 7 am!”

We do have biological clocks and ideally these are in sync with our real world clocks.

The EU will switch to permanent winter time as well: https://www.euronews.com/my-europe/2022/10/28/when-will-the-...

God bless the trackpad on Macbooks. Some Windows laptops come close but none match it.

Thumbs up for Smooze if you're looking to try and have a somewhat usable mouse experience. It's 20 bucks because of course it is, why wouldn't a tool to allow a need that basic cost money? It does have a trial. Maybe another commenter can recommend something free but when I was looking a couple years ago it was the only thing that did it right.

Is Kagi really that good or is their Astroturfing game just next level?

I've never heard anyone say anything bad about it - and we're still talking about a $10/month search engine. Something that has been historically free at all times.

cyann · 2 years ago
I'm a paying customer since June 2022, and I was wondering if I was the only one using its most powerful feature: domains personalizations. I guess not: https://kagi.com/stats?stat=leaderboard&k=2

When you start searching a lot for professional reasons (e.g. rust the language vs rust the game), Kagi's value is a no-brainer.
