racism is bad business. the market deals with it in the following ways:
- the competent people who are being discriminated against leave and go to places where they aren’t discriminated
- people in protected classes sue for discrimination
- companies that don’t discriminate get a reputation as such and attract the best
- companies that keep discriminating keep losing talent and getting hit with lawsuits
what else could you possibly need to show that racism is bad business? that racists get what’s coming to them in the long term?

Mildly reminds me how being online on AIM or ICQ was an actual invitation to chat. I had so many interesting conversations with people I barely knew.
There's no source of that signal that someone is open to chitchat these days, and it's in my opinion kind of killed what was once great about online communication.

You missed an important use-case. If my phone lasts for six years and I’m extremely pleased with it, then of course I’m going to buy another one. I’m going to keep doing that indefinitely.
6 year customer cycles are not recurring revenue. they want your money monthly and annually

No I’m asking a commercial that pops up in what I’m watching and says “ask your doctor if ciallis is right for you.” and gives no context but someone washing their tesla.
HN is not a feed of pharmaceutical ads. HN is a place where industry experts in many industries exchange projects and news in _their_ language. HN is going to be a difficult place to live if you are unwilling to google or chatgpt for things you don't understand. Most of us are here explicitly to discover things we've never seen before – there are other places on the web to have everything spelled out

lodash is extremely common knowledge in the js/web world. you’re asking a chemist to explain atoms before sharing their big discovery
