Will it ever die this cringy trend of “content creators” with that silly face in the thumbnail?! Why would I care about your reaction let alone shoving it into my face.

I’ve seen several talking about how they hate doing it, but the results speak for themselves. It garners more clicks, so they continue doing it.

yeah, we should just make all AI research illegal. I mean, without gate keeper the world will fall apart! Did you know that you can draw and write _anything_ with a pencil! We need to get onto that next. And the internet, you can publish anything you want on there!

You seem to be intentionally missing the point.

I don't doubt the AKC's numbers, but I think the Economist is missing the -doodle dogs. Maybe because they aren't recognized breeds?

I see them constantly: labradoodles, goldendoodles, bernadoodles

Edit: I think "they don't shed" is the attraction of the -doodle. Well, my Lab doesn't shed, either, and he's never had a haircut.

For what it’s worth, I can’t get any adapters to work on my ThinkPad and haven’t been able to resolve it for a long time. My only HDMI port is broken.

I’m going to try this with one of the Pi’s I have laying around. I’m excited to see if I can get it to work!

Ayah By Ayah: https://ayahbyayah.com

An iOS app which I originally released in 2012 as a simple app for listening to the recitation of a single Ayat (verse) of the Qur'an.

I've been performing intermittent upgrades over the years as I wanted to retain its simplicity and ease of use.

It's not much but its nice to have complete autonomy over something.

As a non-Muslim with very, very limited exposure to the Qur’an, I’d be interested to know some of your favorite passages you’ve personally saved and/or read often.

Cool app. Simple, to the point, and with actual useful functionality.

Wish I could hide like a kitten sometimes:

I remember having a very shy kitten. To our surprise we found out that he had discovered that he could climb into an old, hardly used dresser that we used as a linen cabinet.

He would climb up the empty cavity space between the drawers and back wall of the dresser to then sleep in a drawer.

When one of our cats was a kit, he managed to find a hole in the bottom of our box springs and would sleep in there. Once we figured out where his hidey hole was, it was cute, but the first time led to us being sure he was gone forever.

How does this compare to https://guardianproject.github.io/haven, which is free software?
coreyisthename · 3 years ago
It’s not available on iOS, for starters.

I just tried Alfred Camera but I can’t say I’m impressed. Poor UX and the functionality is poor. Perhaps it’s me.
coreyisthename · 3 years ago
It can’t be integrated with anything outside of their app, which really has a “quickly translated from Chinese” quality about it.

> Alfred Security also make a impressive, very inexpensive camera ($34 US, 1080P, night vision, 130 degree viewing angle and easy to mount).

I’m interested, but I can’t find anything about this on their site. Can you provide a link?

coreyisthename · 3 years ago
Weirdly, I downloaded this last night. Super easy to set up and works well. I do remember it having google assistant and google home integrations on iOS a few years back, but that seems to be a thing of the past now?

I’ve messed around with tons of “diy” security cameras on various platforms, however, so it’s very possible I’ve misremembered.
