Unfortunately this is not going to make a dent in the current policies. First of all, russia surveying military bases with drones, really? What else is new? Second, currently there is no way to shoot drones in EU due to variety of bullshit legal reasons.

So this article will change nothing. russia will continue blocking airports and EU won't do anything about it.

Germany has passed legislation to permit the police and I believe the Bundeswehr to shoot down or disable unauthorised drones.

Denmark is also (I believe) looking into this.

I suspect that over the next year more and more EU countries will follow suit.

Pretty sure this is illegal under UK employment law. I smell a very uncomfortable period for Rockstar's HR department

How does this help protect the regular non-garbage pages from the bots?
codeduck · 2 months ago
it does at a macroscopic level by making scraping expensive. If every "valid" page is scattered at random amongst a tarpit of recursive pages of nonsense, it becomes computationally and temporaly expensive to scrape a site for "good" data.

A single site doing this does nothing. But many sites doing this has a severe negative impact on the utility of AI scrapers - at least, until a countermeasure is developed.

Lmfao at direct and harsh, that's not a leader, that's a boss. Leaders show the way, bosses tell the way, you my friend are neither.

The difference between you and me is that I've got the experience to have seen this play out multiple times, you on the other hand are making baseless assumptions.

Don't ask my rate, you can't afford it.

Sure, mate - whatever you need to tell yourself.

You don't seem to have gained his respect with your engineering skills.

Publicly challenge (and beat) him in a small engineering contest, otherwise he will never respect you.

Make it time limited, eg. 3 hours to implement a specific goal with clear indicator of what is "better" as a score, ie. to avoid arguments that eg. "mines fast, mine scales". Have a neutral party pick the challenge.

This will solve nothing. Best case OP 'wins' ands the competent jerk becomes even more difficult, worst case OP 'loses' and loses any authority.

OP is being too nice. He is the team lead. His job is to lead, ands sometimes leaders have to be direct and harsh.

Thankfully this “update” shouldn’t affect me too much. We already have well established guidelines and schedules for remote work.

That being said, I feel like complaining about Teams. Who else is frustrated by its unusually short idle timer? Setting my status to “Away” after only five minutes just makes me look bad. There are definitely managers who somehow think that an 8 hour workday actually means 8 hours of continuous activity. Why can’t this be changed or configured to some other span of time? I wouldn’t complain about 15 minutes.

I got around this by downloading a program called caffeine. There are some other workarounds like preparing to start a fake call, or by entering a PowerPoint presentation and then alt-tabbing away from it.

Tech workers: The only piece of technology in my house is a printer and I keep a gun next to it so I can shoot it if it makes a noise I don't recognize.
