> I will not allow AI to be pushed down my throat just to justify your bad investment.

Pretty much my sentiment too.

almost the same as RTO mandates:

we’ll force you to come back to justify sunk money in office space.

Wonder how many sqlite databases would be too many. At one point I assume not all databases can be kept opened at all time. what sort of overhead would there be serving a tenant not opened up yet? there has to be caches etc. not warmed up causing lots of disk IO

Figma | Security Engineer | Remote or Hybrid (SF, NYC, Seattle) | https://figma.com | Full-Time, $149-350k + Equity

Figma makes the tools that modern companies use to design apps. And because of that highly sensitive data, security is extremely important to get right. (If the next iPhone were designed using Figma and a breach leaked it... yeah, you get the point.)

Anyway, I am on the security team over here at Figma and reminding the excellent HN folks that we're hiring. I'm primarily working on AI and Snowflake Security currently, but I've hopped around over the past year. You likely will too!

We are a bit of a weird hybrid hiring-wise though. We need engineers with a security background than can _also_ write production-grade software.

(If you are a regular SWE then please check out Figma Careers page for a better role to apply for. There are many open roles, though keep in mind that Figma tends to only hire at the "Senior" bar and up. Not very many junior folks here.)

This is the link for my team if you're interested! Feel free to ping me at my email on my profile if you have questions. Cheers!

That was my first thought as well. However, in a lot of real world cases, what matters is not the frequency of requests, but the duration of the jobs. For instance, one client might request a job that takes minutes or hours to complete, while another may only have requests that take a couple of seconds to complete. I don't think this library handles such cases.

defining a unit of processing like duration or quantity and then feeding the algorithm with the equivalent of units consumed (pre or post processing a request) might help.

Does anyone have some real-world use cases for something like this? The algorithm is cool but I'm struggling to see where this is applicable.

Thinking this could be useful in a multi tenants service where you need to fairly allocate job processing capacity across tenants to a number of background workers (like data export api requests, encoding requests etc.)

Are you talking about total country emissions or per capita?

Per capita means nothing... Our environment cares only about total emission. The rest is politics
