Then I think you need to read more about Tammany Hall, because it was not simply a widespread pattern of fraud in social services.

There was few social services at the time. It was a patronage system. Different rewards but buying votes all the same. My point is that patronage is a long storied American tradition so I don’t know why people are al shocked that such schemes are still ongoing. Republican and anti castro cubans is or was a similar patronage system.

Patrick is too polite to mention it, but frauds work much better if the fraudsters are also fully integrated into the political machine of the people nominally investigating the fraud.

Its hilarious how short human memory is. To me Minnesota just seems like a replay of Tammany Hall in NYC

The lobotomized version of Open AI models. It feels worse than small local models I run. Does anyone know what size of models they are running?

I don’t care for Sam Altman but so far I have been impressed with Codex and at least for our use right now its performing much better than Opus 4.5. Of course this will probably change again but the larger context window with Codex is god sent for us.

There will be an exiting explosion of internal apps and tools and then it will die down as companies get back to business. All those tools and apps will turn into legacy apps and they will eventually try to migrate data off them into some saas platform because its not core to business.

Saas will have to drop prices to be competitive so fat margins will go away which will probably affect margins for AWS etc.

The G in GPT stands for Generalized. You don't need that for specialist models, so the size can be much smaller. Even coding models are quite general as they don't focus on a language or a domain. I imagine a model specifically for something like React could be very effective with a couple of billion parameters, especially if it was a distill of a more general model.

Thats what i want and orchestrator model that operates with a small context and then very specialized small models for react etc

right, but ChatGPT might not exist at some point, and if we don't force feed the open inference ecosystem and infrastructure back into the mouths of the AI devourer that is this hype cycle, we'll simply be accepting our inevitable, painful death
