Hey all! I am a high school student from Hong Kong, and growing up in a traditional Asian family I have experienced all tiger parenting by my parents. It is surprisingly effective in how they can help control my screen time. Knowing lots of my friends with parents that are more 'chill', they personally want to be controlled as well on their screen time. Therefore, I built this app with a sassy mascot that mimics tiger parents they want.
I believe it has a unique approach to managing screen time. It uses a concept that’s similar to Duolingo’s mascot, our tiger mom mascot “Lok” provides similar encouragement in reducing screen time. It double downs on the stereotype of Asian tiger parenting, where people aren’t allowed their phones until they finished their tasks. Using such ways to gamify screen time is effective to all of the beta testers of this app, and I am sure that it will benefit you guys as well!
I was hoping this was an app that forced you to learn languages before opening instagram. Doesn’t seem to be the case at all, in which case I’m not sure why this is titled “Duolingo for screen time”.
Instead this looks like a clone of any of the many screentime apps, with similar egregious pricing.
hi! apologies for the misunderstanding. the 'duolingo' I'm mentioning is our mascot that encourages you to minimise your screen time. through interactions with the mascot it is proven effective so our beta testers that it helps reducing screen time! anyway, i appreciate your feedback and i'll be clearer onwards!
The term you may be looking for is "gamification" - Duolingo uses gamification to encourage progress on learning a language, you are using it for encouraging staying focus on tasks. But if you say this is like Duolingo, people are going to think it is about learning languages and your marketing is going to be confusing.
I built this app based on personal needs. I am always unmotivated and procrastinating from working, due to social media addiction. Therefore, I built this effective tool and I think you should try it out as well :)
