Apple makes things. The software side works with it, but it's a hardware company. They aren't entirely dependent on conjuring up value out of thin air, they have supply chains and manufacturing and whatnot.
Even Amazon, which deals with physical objects, doesn't really make anything.
Imagine an "ugliest shirt" trophy, given out to whoever wheres the ugliest shirt of the week. At a fashion magazine, this may be toxic shaming. At a tech-heavy startup it might have people start buying the worst shirts they can to try to win it.
If the attitude associated with getting the trophy is condemnation, that's bad. If it's a reminder that everyone fucks and be careful, that's fine.
I am sure the teacher was sick of me by the third year as well.
The best thing you'll get is a campaign promise to do something about it, but not much action. The only way something will actually be done about it is if the effects of it become economically catastrophic or people start rioting en masse.
