This ram price spike is literally part of the currency debasing
bozhark · 3 months ago
Why does everyone pretend like prices are not post-pandemic gouged still?

Absolutely prices should adjust appropriately… once… oh never mind

Fun fact: Suppressed/hidden/lost memories due to trauma that appear to re-surface through therapy are not a real thing, as previously thought (and still by some psychotherapists). Nowadays it's understood by psychology that any memories "re-surfacing" in therapy are in fact newly created, although the patient themselves cannot tell the difference. Allegedly, whole accusations of childhood abuse may have been created out of thin air, without the victim realizing.

Careful with this absolute assumption. The brain rationalizes. Though irrationally.

Sometimes yes, created to validate, sometimes no, unlearns to disassociate

It's already not sustainable, but that hasn't really stopped us.

It absolutely is possible though.

We don’t incentivize properly

I think why the shape of movies works is because it's taking the entire video, where each cinematic shot is almost visible because most (all?) frames are included in the generated image, while yours is less than ten frames so there is no patterns emerging that looks visually interesting and pleasing.

Figuring out what a shot is cs. A scene is really neat stuff

All the recent reporting shows investment greater than 10X revenues. Who's using all the electricity?

It's funny I'll sometimes scoot forward/rock my car but I'm not sure if it's just coincidence. Also a lot of stop lights now have that tall white camera on top.

> My personal productivity has skyrocketed in the last 12 months.

Has your productivity objectively, measurably improved or does it just feel like it has improved? Recall the METR study which caught programmers self-reporting they were 20% faster with AI when they were actually 20% slower.

bozhark · 5 months ago
Yes, for me.

Instead of getting overwhelmed doing to many things, I can offload a lot of menial and time-driven tasks

Reviews are absolutely necessary but take less time than creation

Saw this on a social network with a mention of Paolo Bacigalupi's "The water knife", which is a great scifi book about a future with water wars.

We are already in the current water wars in some places around the globe
