Curiously the “get full database access” link on many entries takes you to dodoengineering.ru.

Well, that's just great - we'll have to add the Post Office to the list of government or quasi-governmental officials that can't be trusted. How long before firefighters and EMS have to get added to that list?

Not sure I follow. What do you mean by “officials that can’t be trusted”? What list?

It's going to be interesting and chaotic watching retailers hold the line and then break. If you have big purchases you wanted to make this year, now is the time to get them out of the way, before the next round of price hikes and shortages.

Is Trek not one of the dozens of bike brands made in the US? I’d always thought they were.

Edit: this looks like a good source on US bike manufacturers: https://thebestbikelock.com/bike-brands/bikes-made-in-usa/

I'm waiting for the moment when American news realizes they're going to have to play hardball with this president. Since 2015, the media has been overly lenient with Trump, implicitly aiding his rise to power and his two terms in office. In return, they've received nothing but contempt and insults. It's become clear to me that the chaos Trump generates has been a boon for their viewership numbers, but at what cost? This is why I've stopped consuming American news sources.

Overly lenient? On the whole I’d say the press has been aggressively assailing anyone/anything they think deserving. MSNBC certainly doesn’t back down on their reporting and narrative crafting.

In your opinion what would appropriate reporting look like?

What exactly is at risk wrt social security? My parents both receive benefits and are worried by the signs they see in these protests, but there’s nothing specific about benefits actually being stopped or reduced for them that we can find.

TikTok itself isn’t subject to penalties - it’s any company providing services to TikTok that need assurance. Hosting, collocation, network providers, etc. They face 5k/user/day in fines.

These pop up during every launch.

YouTube takes between 30 minutes and days to take them down after being reported.

I haven’t listened to many Supreme Court hearings. Historically has their line of questioning been a good indicator of how they ultimately ruled?

What is the general consensus on “curbs on automation”?

Interest in protecting jobs makes sense. But it seems like a balanced ramp allowing for innovation and the transition to automating away manual labor is positive for civilization. Is it that no one can agree on what that ramp looks like and how to approach things like retraining?
