Good point, the part of the LLM is to allow a user to insert their own context into the stories. For example, an anansi story, could be adapted to use names of people if that will help the user (example parent) give context (to a child).

Has anyone said they actually want this? I wouldn't, especially for traditional folktales.

What? Copyright and patents are exactly the same thing. Making "you copied me!" actionable at a court of law, by statute, when before that there was no such legal fiction of "intellectual property" or any other exclusive rights to reproduce a thing.

You basically replied to GP's eloquent and nuanced post with, "nah bro trust me, purple is actually blue!"

I do think the state of progress in China is vastly underestimated by the west. It has been fast and messy, not evenly distributed, but it is staggering. The rhetoric around them is changing too, I think they are making significant soft power gains. I could easily see them filling the voids that US policy chaos is currently creating.

China has a demographic time-bomb about to go off in the next decade or two. We'll see if they can survive it.

The amount of additional code that it needs is horrible. We will now have to spend more brain juice on telemetry when working on a feature.

Nah, if you have an important application this is very low cost for adding tons of insight into how your app is running.

That’s actually a really good point! I wonder if one day there will be analogues for music and writing?

I suppose you have gumroad / serialized novels or webcomics but I’m not sure if there’s any albums where the musician is putting out one song at a time

bavell · 10 days ago
It's fairly common for artists to release a single or two from an upcoming album. Some artists release more singles than they do albums.

Oh, we can run LLMs efficiently with AMD GPUs now? Pretty cool, I haven't been following, thank you.
bavell · 11 days ago
IDK about "efficiently" but we've been able to run llms locally with AMD for 1.5-2 years now

I haven't really done anything serious with Claude Code, but today I tested starting claude in ~/claude/test, and told it to list my home dir, which it then did.

Is there a way to tell tools like Claude Code that it must never leave ~/claude/test, and don't event think about using absolute paths, or relative paths which contain `..`?

How does Claude Code handle editing multiple files? My understanding is that it's CLI based, so it edits a bunch of files on it's own, so how do you accept/reject and rollback changes?

You may be interested in reading something I wrote a while ago that's pretty dead on to what you're talking about there:

Great read and insights! I learned a few things and found myself nodding along most of the article.
