It's possible to run 32-bit Windows binaries with Rosetta 2 and WINE, but I don't know if there is any good DirectX 9 to Metal wrapper yet. Probably DXMT will implement it in the future: https://github.com/3Shain/dxmt

I have heard of Rosetta not implementing the entire instruction set, and games being one of the most affected kinds of software, most of them crashing due to illegal instructions.

I think this should cover it.

That won’t fix the fact that the macOS kernel can’t run 32-bit binaries.

How can you run old 32-bit, directx 9 games on apple silicon? Is there any solution that is flawless? One of the things that stops me from buying a modern Mac.

The US can barely get basic medical supplies to much of its population outside of a health crisis - not because of direct supply chain issues, but because the system is designed to put corporate profits over adequate service provision.

And in the not so general case, over national security.

Is manufacturing the real problem here? Or is it a symptom of decades of systemic mismanagement of opportunity by a culture that values short-sighted opportunism over strategy?

Way to misdirect a totally valid point

I really don't understand (from Australia) about this fear and hate of globalism.

The capitalist globalists have done what capitalists do, search for the lowest costs and the lowest quality that continues to sell for the highest price. That's economic globalism.

But the social globalism, of having human rights upheld around the world, a common attitude towards personal liberties, freedom of thought, speech, & work, entitlement to shelter, safe food & water, education, health care etc.

I don't understand why people are against that? You don't think everyone deserves to live with the same level of freedom as you do? They don't deserve to choose their government and leadership like you do?

What is it about that side of globalism that people hate so much?

All countries should govern themselves, based on their cultural needs.

So, anyone got a good resource on why Apple is so afraid of GPLv3? Surely this shouldn't be a problem as long as they statically compile the executables?

The TiVo clause.

You don't have to embed a github gist to show 5 lines of console output that are not even highlighted. You can use the HTML <code> tag.
