Honest question: what does it mean this new pricing that every product has today in terms of “credits”.

Sounds quite apache given the fact that you will need to track utilisation all the time for something like prompting.

Does someone has any insight on why the old flat pricing or utilisation prices are not in those new AI products where we have this abstract concept as credit?

With Windsurf I'm able to pick any of the premium language models. I.e. Claude 3.7 Sonnet costs 1 credit / prompt, whereas the thinking model costs 1.25 credits, and o3 costs a whopping 7.5 credits.

It's simply passing on the cost of respective model's costs, I think. I can image it's hard to come up with an affordable / interesting flat rate _and_ support all those differently priced models.

My theory is this: the washing machine uses residual heat in the washed items to get them to dry. Plastic cools down too quickly to dry them completely. Mugs, plates or metal items stay hot longer.

I've been running mailcow for a long time to _receive_ mail. Sending was hit and miss. For a long time I could relay through my ISP, but that got me into delivery problems as well.

Now I've been relaying through Mail.baby/Interserver for 18 months or so and it works great. $1/mo base fee + usage. With the <100 mails me and my family send that adds up to $1.01/mo.

I live next to a school, so there's a low speed limit (30 km/h). Still, people drive like race drivers and the city hasn't ever responded to the residents' hopes of introducing a speed camera.

I wanted to have some data on how many people speed, the max speed recorded, that sort of thing. Things the city should be doing after many complaints of dangerous driving and people being almost killed on zebra crossings.

I have a doorbell camera, and by analysing the footage using OpenCV and some code, I can track how fast people drive if you see how fast they move between two known points.

Average speed: 46 km/h :(

Not sure where you are, but 30kmh sounds Dutch. Filming the public road from your private residence is illegal.

In practice, no one cares. Cops will even ask you nicely for footage if something went down in your street.

Anyway, best of luck with your project.

Fun fact - this is how blue raspberry was created as a flavor. Raspberry flavored things were purple, made from a combination of red and blue dye. The red dye (red no 2) was banned. So companies making raspberry flavored stuff just left the red dye out and said "raspberry is blue now" and we all went "shit yeah it is, always has been! why would raspberry be anything other than blue?"

These are tall promises so lets hope they keep their word

From the article it appears that there will be an optional "pay-whatever" feature soon.

There's a self-hosted option that's free.
ariejan · a year ago
Meh, this feels more like marketing than open source. The "free" on premise hosted version is limited. Also, no mention of "apps", like inventory, stripe, PoS, etc. for the self hosted version.

Edit: it seems the on-premise version supports apps: There is no app included in any plan. All apps must be purchased separately from the App Store.
