I'm curious about this too. On the engineering side, tools like Solidworks and Fusion start from extruding a planar sketch— which is a model that maps well to conventional manufacturing techniques, but isn't very artistic.

You want Rhino3d for creative + manufacture

Take this with a grain of salt as I'm in academia now, outside everyday software implementation in AEC, but I think that's changed / changing. My background is in the profession, and I'm a self-taught computational designer. Before going academic I built a lot of tools for small architecture firms, implemented BIM workflows for them, etc. So I talked to but didn't work with the tech tooling people at large AE or C firms. That said any time I look at the kind of software and tools being built at those companies, it seems like they've become increasingly comfortable with needing relatively full stack development.

Just one of many examples is how EHDD's EPIC [0]was successful enough to spin out [1]. There are a lot of others.

Revit houses in medium sized firms are difficult nut to crack. Im sure tier ones have in housr swe's working on making revit less cumbersome.

Look at companies in the AEC sector. Pay is lower than straight tech, but a lot of exciting real world and applied problems to dig in to. All the fun stuff these days is computation and advanced fabrication based. Even something closer in application to the jobsite like building information modeling still has room to grow in terms of tech implementation.

Your skill set would be lucrative to a big construction or engineering firm and they pay well. Architecture firms solve the funnest problems, which is what you get in return for the lower pay.

Agreed. Im in Aec and the amount of stuff i see ripe for swe to dig into is plenty. Youll need to convince directors youre worth it.

Procreate and Fastmail are under rated?? Seriously people...

Fast Automation, Concep, Applied Robotics come to mind. There are some quantum computing companies based in Sydney too.

Sauvage is a big ambroxan offender, a cold sharp metallic note that pierces the brains around the person wearing it, who clearly has no brain for damage to be suffered (/s)

80s au saucage? I dont remember that one being like that. Funny.

I don't see anything about carbonated beverages in those comments? I've had good results with some of the exercises mentioned there, but since then have been in a rut unable to make it stop (my only symptom of GERD is a small persistent cough, which sucks more than it sounds like). I drink a lot of sparkling water though. Do I need to give that up too?

Carbonated beverages expand once swallowed, not helpful if your LES is relaxed.

I’ve been dealing with chronic reflux for about 8 mos now. On PPIs and they don’t seem to do much. But once I get away from my typical routine of work/dadding then all the symptoms vanish, even to the point of being able to eat foods that are not good for reflux: spicy things, tomatoes, a bit of coffee. In my case, this is absolutely a downstream symptom of something mind-body. Already been scoped and got a diagnosis of visceral hypersensitivity, which is medical speak for “nerves in esophagus are too sensitive.”

The question of why is out of scope.

In this case, docs just don’t know why. (I think it kinda pisses them off not know, tbh). And finding out is not really in their wheelhouse.

I’ve made some life changes (new job) to see what happens here. But I also have to be prepared for the possibility that it doesn’t fix it. Been working through The Body Keeps The Score as well.

Looking forward to seeing what the author discusses here.

I had the same diagnosis, and treatment was getting on serious antidepressants for their nerve dulling properties.

After getting that diagnosis. I eat everything within reason. I decided not to take medication, knowing whats up with my body is sufficient. I mainly try to do all eating 4 hrs before bed.

What i have read is that covid may be responsible for micro lesions in the esophagus...acidic foods are essentially rubbing salt in the wounds.

Just a note about VH - it is more so over sensitivity to regular digestive function. Which is why feeling super full after eating/dispepsia is common as well. Im sure you did a 24 hr acid monitoring test - i pressed the reflux button during all my trigger foods and was surprised to see ph levels as neutral.

I'm a perfume fan (hobbyist? I don't know how to name it), and I wonder if this still holds. Nowadays, the "luxury" brands such as the Arab ones, and even the "western" European niche catering to the biggest spenders are making a lot of oud fragrances, gourmands, incense perfumes... Basically anything thick, dense, almost syrupy. They don't limit to this, of course, but ouds became much more common in the last years

In Sydney. It has destroyed the olfactory field imo. I cant stand the ambroxan(?)...it smells like IPA on PCP :/

I had this problem some years ago. Eventually I just told everyone I would be uninstalling whatsapp on date XX/YY, which I then did. Some people installed signal and stayed in touch, others didn't. Life didn't change much. Now I'd like to move to my own matrix server but I think appx 0.0% of my social group would follow me down that rabbit hole. :-(

More extreme, a friend of mine one day eliminated his cellphone entirely but kept Skype on his laptop. So now it's email or nothing with him and sadly it's been nothing for some time now.

I left whatsapp long ago when it was bought by meta, due to my privacy beliefs. I quit facebook in 2007 when i caught negative behaviour patterns. Im staunchly anti social media, however it would be dishonest not to note that it is lonely, organising anything is tedious, you have no access to the used goods marketplace (fees on sales platforms are too high). I dont really know if privacy is worth it. But tbh the thought of going back makes my skin crawl.
