The name is a reference to a fictional gameshow in Bojack Horseman called "Hollywoo Stars and Celebrities: What Do They Know? Do They Know Things?? Let's Find Out!"

I reference this specific game show title quite a bit, but I don't think that many people get it sadly, so I just seem weird haha

It cost more than 90 but the bragging rights are _priceless_.

Sounds like they already had one, so they saved $90 by not having to buy another garage door opener by using something they already had.

Am I understanding right that he essentially printed part of memory to the piezoelectric circuit in binary? How did he get his code to run to do so, or was there some other technique in play? Really interesting stuff.

It sounds like he already had linux running on the device, it just couldn't control/access everything, which was the ultimate goal of this project. So once you have linux running, even without being able to control everything, you have code execution. It seems like there'd be other ways to get the bootloader out, but I'm not familiar with the project, presumably he did the easiest thing he could do - or most interesting.

Does this actually affect subscribers to sub-reddits?

If this is extended indefinitely I would expect competing sub-reddits to form.

Considering spez has shown before he doesn’t really care for Reddit’s rules that are applied to the rable and he can do what he wants (like editing others posts), I fully expect the permanently blacked out subs to have new ownership and become public again before too long.

One time during a summer camp at my middle school I won a paper airplane contest with the basic because time aloft was a major contributor to scoring and a gust of wind caught my plane after I threw it and held it in the air for a while.

I mentioned after I'd won that I felt bad, it was luck that the wind came when it did and held it the way it did and the judge replied that other planes might not have caught the wind like mine did because mine was designed in such a way that it caught wind better.

The prize, ironically, was a book on how to make paper airplanes. I felt like that should have gone to the loser, but it was still cool.

If anyone wants to try it out, but doesn't want to send them your Json, here's an example of some real world data https://jsonhero.io/j/t0Vp6NafO2p2

For me, this is harder to use than reading the JSON in a colour text editor such as VSCode. I'm getting less information on the page, and its harder to scan, but that might be because I'm used to reading JSON.

Yeah, it looks cool, but anything I'd use it for I'd use jq for and much, much faster.

Hacker News at least somewhat shows when a comment's net_votes is negative by fading the visibilty out. Which is kind of the exact opposite of YouTube's new system, showing only negative responses vs only positive responses.
_____-___ · 4 years ago
Yeah, HN shows the net_votes, YouTube is now only showing upvotes, so the person you're replying to is wrong here. It's not the same since HN's showing what people think of the comment, vs YouTube only showing people who liked the content. Not saying it couldn't be better, it's just a flawed comparison.

They disabled the account that were identified to be compromised. That isn’t enough?

Eventually. Those accounts were alive and spamming for hours before Twitter was able to effectively stop them.
