Data will mingle

I find tracking movies and series I have watched with my partner an impossible task. Spreadsheets are too fiddly for my partner, and I want to look up what is next on my phone so I have turned to Airtable and n8n for automation.

input a relevant url, it will decide if it IMDB or Youtube or a list. using an llm, it will attempt to extract the movies or series from the list and find the relevant IMDB link.

Then I have a masonry view of movies & series I have and have not watched, sortable by tags that I can rate and add notes to.

At the unveiling it was promised to start at $39,900, just under $50k in today's dollars.

Yes, that was for a base model that wasn't produced, but we are a long way from the promised stats on the upper trim. Promised to be under $70k, or about $87k in today's dollars (nope), 500+ mi range (nope, 300), payload 3500lbs (nope, 2500), tow rating 14000 (nope, 11000). By 2021 (nope).

It does come close on two of the promised stats: 0-60 in under 3 seconds and top speed just under the promised 130. I'd much rather have it be good at being a truck than being a massive hunk of pointy steel that can be thrown around with that much torque.

We are the beta testers, and it is exhausting.

Siri, for example, introduced in I think 2011, still doesn't work nearly as well as they exclaim.

This should be prosecuted. Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act prohibits “unfair or deceptive acts or practices in or affecting commerce.”

Posting ghost jobs is a deceptive act.

I was told earlier this week by an organization

> We leave this role posted because it's so critical to our operation and onboard as demand requires, however at this time we don't have enough demand to justify another full time hire.

Of the obvious fake job postings I've seen, I always assumed they were attempts at Russian or Chinese espionage. Example: for a very brief time I was a US DoD contractor.

Why do they need my home address for an application? I never understand that. Several have asked me for my DL number

You should tone the paranoia down a notch. Realistically speaking if they can't identify you they'll just give you a worse price. It makes absolutely no sense to refuse a sale.

This is what happens when growth is more important than sustainability.

My Facebook account got hacked last year and it was a nightmare. They got access to my ad account and racked up $4k worth of charges.

And, somehow they were able to get into my account over and over again. I’m super technical and careful about these things. Even after changing all my passwords and resetting everything, multiple times, the hacker was able to steal my account.

After being locked out for several days, I finally managed to reclaim access to my account through an old reset email that I found.

I changed my account email address and that finally stopped the hacking.

The worst part is that Facebook support completely denied that my account was hacked and refused to refund the ad spend.

It was so obvious that I had been hacked. You could see the spammy ads and the sketchy email addresses that had been added to my ad manager account.

I tried everything and Facebook told me that there was nothing suspicious.

I finally went through my LinkedIn network and found someone who works there and they helped me get the issue resolved.

Horrible experience.

Meanwhile, hundreds of honest people have their Facebook accounts banned regularly. And banned for what seems like no reason, without a solution to renew.

> "The company’s official help pages steer users who have been hacked toward confusing automated tools that often lead users to dead-end links"

the internet feels more and more a hostile place.

i find myself constantly getting frustrated with bs like this.

like fucking passwords that expire every month and have some voodoo criteria. like don't try and outsource your internal secruity on me bich.
