What does this mean? Are there people being trafficked in eastern Germany?

OO000oo · 2 years ago
Yes, and it's nothing new.

Probably not. I don't even know what it means/you mean.

When rich nations destabilize poor nations and incentivize cheap labor to migrate to the rich nation.

There are. Why wouldn't there be?

There are a lot of minorities in Germany, which (sadly have to) accept daily racism.

Thankfully, at this point violence against minorities (~800 right extremists violent crimes in 2022 in whole Germany) is not as high such that people consider moving away.

And if you get a job there and this is your ticket into immigration, probably a lot of people will accept this to get German citizenship. Finally, this will open you access to all the working places in Europe.

My hope (as a West German) is that investments like this, will increase East-Germany's economy such that they are finally equal in terms of economic wealth, which is a large factor for racism/extremism.

Same with opposing climate change laws.

Is this a bad joke? Is it possible that you actually don't comprehend the ramifications of eternal human labor trafficking?

"We are pleased to resolve this matter"

Nobody should ever be "pleased" with knowingly breaking the law. When will we ever get serious about law enforcement for this type of crime?

No sooner than the day we abolish the profit motive.

At least in the UK, group messaging over sms was always broken, and sending pictures still costs me extra money. The phone carriers brought it on themselves.
OO000oo · 2 years ago
It's not the phone carriers' problem FYI.

I'm all for magic mushrooms and legalization, but I don't buy this 1st amendment religious exemption bullshit. The law should apply equally to everyone and everything, or it ceases to have any meaning. It's the same as the Supreme Court carving out a religious exemption to the Civil Rights act. There's no good reason why people's woo-woo beliefs somehow changes whether the law applies to them or not. It's ridiculous.

You can use Krita! It’s legitimately very good.

To be fair this is adobe's fault. The only reason it isn't available on linux is because adobe goes to great technical and legal lengths to ensure it can't be. A VM with seamless windowing isn't a bad solution for running that kind of forcewear, compromising the whole host OS seems excessive.

Blaming doesn't fix anything. The real point here is that it's a political issue and the open source community is too infantile for politics so they keep lying to themselves instead.

Dead Comment

Windows and its ecosystem have already become a telemetry monster; if you're fine with everything else, you ought to be fine with this. The linked Intel support page shows the simple instructions for opting out of the telemetry.

Having said that, 2022 was already the year of the Linux desktop. Everything works. KDE gets better every week. Be the owner of your technology. Join us!

...if you're a software engineer. If you need Photoshop or Word or another industry standard software then you don't count.
